Hi there, normally I dislike doing this but Jay gave me the go ahead so here I am. For the past few months I've been volunteering on a local project where I am called 'The Cultural Thing', it started out as a radio program that went out on a few community radio stations in the North East of England however it's now grown to be a bigger entity, we strive to be the number one source for culture and the arts.

However that isn't the reason I'm posting it but a bit of background on this. My role within the whole project is I act as the radio shows gaming expert and I also have a hand in our facebook/twitter/website management. With the gaming thing I usually get a ten minute slot on the show (Weekly show, hour long, my slot usually comes around once or twice a month) now as you can imagine this isn't a lot or time to get in a lot of gaming news so to go alongside it I decided to start up my own gaming blog. This would be its own seperate entity but listeners to the show could also use it to read up on what I've discussed in the show and find out more. It would also be there when the show isn't in season.

Anyway the site itself I'm looking for feedback on but more importantly one of the things I really wanted to do was to have a podcast for the site which might go out fortnightly or monthly depending on how its recieved and the demand. So I got myself, my girlfriend and another good friend of mine and last Friday we recorded and edited said podcast and put it up on the Saturday. It is something we're all quite proud of but as it's our first attempt we realise there is still a lot of work to go until it's perfect. So I got in touch with Jay for advise and he said it'd be alright to post here to ask the community for advice and feedback.

First of all just so everybody knows the feedback we've already had commented on the length. The person felt 30 minutes might be too much in one go for a podcast and advised splitting the show up into segments so users could listen to a particular section should they wish to. So first of all I have to ask what do you guys think? Would you rather that or are you happy with it as it is?

Anyway, if you have the time listen to it, or a bit of it and tell me what you think. It can be found here: http://www.pwgaming.co.uk/?p=1105

Thank you and I hope to hear some of your thoughts/comments.

First off the quality is really great. Did you all meet together or did it online?

I don't know about spitting up the audio into segments though. Maybe as part of the post put something like this:

4:23 – Topic 1
10:50 – Topic 2
etc

Not liking the plugin you have to playing the podcast, because I'm not able to skip ahead, rewind, etc. Unless I'm missing something. Even if you pause and press play again, it re-starts.

We all met up round my house, plonked the laptop down on the dining table and recorded it using the inbuilt microphone. I like you am really surprised at how good the quality actually is considering we used no specialist hardware for it.

I think I like your idea about having a schedule regarding when certain segments are, that would be nice information for listeners, thanks for that.

As for the plug-in, I did actually think you were able to skip ahread and the like but a few people have complained about this so I am actually going to look into changing it for something else.

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and for your feedback :)

EDIT: The plug in has been changed from the Yahoo one to a Google one, this should allow proper rewind, skipping and pausing.
