and what on earth is with all the "Perfect 10" hate? If you have a 10 point scale shouldn't there be some games that have a 10? Noone is saying they're literally perfect but a 10 should mean (at minimum) it's one of the best games released this generation to date. You can't see people saying that about Batman? I'm not asking you to agree with that but it's VERY easy to me to understand why someone would say Batman is one of the best games this console cycle so far.

yeesh.. it's one thing if you don't like Batman that makes you a weirdo and yes I admit I probably won't meet your eye if we're passing on the street but these complaints make it seem like the issue is that Batman got a 10 and if it had gotten a more reasonable 9 or 8 this wouldn't be an issue.

This is a game that's different. It's not dudes shooting stuff. It's not a typical comic book hero game with crazy stupid story lines and simplified mechanics. All i know about Gears of Wars tells me it's a shooting game like every other shooting game.. you have your 1st vs 3rd person games. your run n gun vs stop and pop games but that's about it. It apparently invented the survival/wave attack/invasion/Hoard? mode but it's functionally like a tens of other games before and after it yet people are calling it games of the year, yet you don't see me decrying that and I decry all kinda of asinine things on my twitter feed.

bah humbug. This is the reason any scale outside of five points (five hard points you bloody half star people) is stupid. The industry is always looking at us the consumer and wondering why we argue about scores "when it's just one person's opinion" and "we never read the article we just check the score". If you can tell me on a scale of 1 to 100 what you think about something I don't need to read your 10 page story trying to explain why. You just told me on a 100 point scale.
