Andriod vs. iPhone | Other | Forum

For a while now I have been thinking of getting the iPhone. I was thinking that sometime next year I would get the iPhone 3GS, but with all of the Andriod phones coming out it\'s hard for me to decide. It seems that the Andriod is the only thing that can go up against the iPhone.
The phones that are coming out are better and better, and it\'s the samething with the apps.
Any suggestions on what I should go with?
P.S. from what I hear the 4th gen of the iPhone is coming out in Feb.
Apple is getting a lot of pressure from Verizon and T-Mobile to give them the iPhone.
For the longest time I was comparing the Palm Pre, Android and the iPhone. I ended up getting the Palm Pre, which I love.
One of the main reasons why I choose the Palm Pre and Sprint is because it would be cheaper for the monthly plan. Which is very important to me.
I have 450 Minutes, Unlimited Mobile to Mobile on ANY network, Nights starting at 7PM, Unlimited Data, Unlimited Text/SMS, Unlimited Roaming, Unlimited Picture Mail, and GPS/Navagation for $69.99 a month. I don\'t even use the 450 minutes to be honestly.
But if I had to pick between iPhone and Android. I would look at the phone carriers first then the phones. See which one would be cheaper monthly and go from there, but that\'s just me. I don\'t like paying a lot for cell phone service. Personally I prefer the android format over iPhone. But the iPhone is an impressive device as well.
Let us know what you decide.
I have to admit that the Palm Pre looks pretty sweet. When I first heard about it I was really interested, wanted to see what they can do with it. I hated hearing about the \"iPhone Killer\" commericals when the phones just sucked. The Palm Pre was different, it could actually do something.
I think the only reason that I stop paying attention to it so much now is because of the Andriod. I don\'t even think I pay attention to the iPhone as much as I used too. Now that I think about it, it kind of sounds like I have already made up my mind.
Since I am currently with AT&T, it would be easy to just get an iPhone. Plus with the company discount I could bring it down to $70 a month with the data package. Then again Sprint HTC Hero Andriod looks awesome...
I have another 10 months to decide so I will let you guys know what I do.
Is that when your contract is up?
Yup, they have pocket wireless in my area which is a new company. I believe it\'s only in 3 states but supposedly you can have unlimted everything for $30. Now this is great if you don\'t Travelers since the reception should be some what decent but hell I bet it can get annoying if you go to far away from the cell towers.
…maybe I should get a phone for $500 and just get a deal with them. I don\'t think they use contracts.
There is a lot of convergence right now. After getting burned with the Palm Treo 700 wx (most unuseful phone ever) I opted to go for a rugged cel this time around, rather than another smartphone.
It turns out the rugged phone (a Motorola) runs J2ME apps just fine. The browser is functional. And it's easy to dial, and water resistant.
iPhone, BlackBerry and Android are all really good...hard to say who's going to emerge on top, maybe that will be all sorted in a few years when I get another device.
I haven't had any issues with the Sprint network really. But at least roaming is included in the plan for free if you need it. My friend got the HTC EVO and he loves it, he used to have the Palm Pre. There are pluses and minuses about the evo but overall he loves it.
You could always try it for 30 days too. Not sure how the coverage is in CT either. Might be able to search in the sprint forums to see how the coverage really is there.
I was trying to search around the net and didn't see anything bad. I am going to take a look at the Sprint forums like you suggested to see what people think but from the users that have it around here that I've asked they said it's good. I think when Sprint and Nextel merged the customer service dropped but since then everything has been resolved.
I was also thinking like you suggested that I have 30 days to try this service out and if I don't like it I can go back and return it.
Honestly Sprint has the best plans. I think I heard t-mobile has plans $5 or so less. Next cheapest is Cricket.
Yeah Sprint has great plans compared to the other carriers. Now there is talks again of Sprint and T-Mobile merging since Sprint is thinking of switching over to LTE now http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2010/07/13/sprint-c.....+Report%29
Wonder if the merge would ever happen and if it would be good for the consumer as well.
The merge might very well happen since there are a bunch of carriers out there, I am not sure how serious both companies are about it so I guess time will tell. It would make their network stronger because they would combine it... I am not sure if Sprint would go and change plans since they would have a bigger subscriber base though.
lol .. well how do you like it?
