over 1200 people lined up at Akihabara Yodabashi Camera Coincidently, around the same amount was reported for the PSP and PS3 launches.
3DS has around 260 people lined up at pre-order launch (obviously its doing much better now)

Let's wait until final numbers are in. Different markets for both systems means different pre-order patterns. Still need no find out how much stock Sony will have on launch day since that IS guaranteed to be sold on said day alone.
Rumor is 500k stock. And it's not guaranteed to sell through. 3DS didn't sell through in any territory.
65% of PlayStation Vita reservations on the first day were for the 3G model. The other 35% were for the Wi-Fi version, that means the 3G version sold nearly 2:1. 82% of people bought a memory stick and 72% picked up one with 32GB of storage.
Amazon Japan and Yodobashi are out of stock. Sofmap, Bic Camera and Joshin have also sold out. Only smaller stores seem to have any at all.
what makes the 3G version so appealing like that? From what we know so far surely the WIFI one is a better choice right?
