I believe newer posts on the blog should be better showcased on top of the page, that way people wouldn't skip as many posts, particularly those below the 3rd post (like it happens nowadays).

Showcase them how? The features news with images are reserved for reviews & giveaways mainly.

Featured posts are a good thing to showcase, however, I believe going through each individually is a slow process and I don't think it really works. Basically because most posts with 2 or 3 posts above it won't get new comments any writer/co-writer can confirm it.

If you just look at GameSpot, GameInformer, IGN, Kotaku and most other blogs/sites you see at least 5 different posts (and sometimes not necessarily the latest ones, so it could be for featured posts exclusively) without scrolling down the window or waiting for the image to change.

I believe this is good because more people see older news that way, making posts stay active for longer. Because lately posts die in a day or two given the amount of news published. Another option could be to reduce the home page space for each post, making it support more posts per page, perhaps just using a brief introduction and not part of the actual text, that way readers would have to open the post to read (maybe this is beneficial in some sort of way to the site and maybe people would be more prone to comment since they're already on the post)

This is just my opinion though, but I personally believe it's something to think about.

You don't want to shorten it too much as it could turn people away since it would mean more clicking for them. After like 2 or 3 posts of having to click the link to get the breadth of a story will turn people away faster than the current problem. Either that, or they are just going to find just one post to read since having to go back and forth between the home page and a story would be redundant.

With that said, I do think quality of posts needs to be improved. I noticed, during my absence, a lot of overlooked mistakes and formatting problems were approved and/or made live and that drove down a lot of the quality.

Anyway, the QuickNews change looks good.

As far as image size goes, writers should at least try to do the 100% width format, with the image itself being between 600 and 620 pixels so when you view the full post, the image isn't stretched. If the image is more square, keep it at 300 pixels and align left it so the text goes alongside the image and not under it when you view the full post page.
