David Jaffe Planning To Depart From Eat Sleep Play

As the PS3 exclusive combat racer prepares to ship this month Eat Sleep Play co-founder David Jaffe revealed his plans to depart from the company.

Scott Campbell broke the news during an interview with The Salt Lake Tribune stating that Jaffe is leaving the company the two of them created to tackle the casual market. When the story made waves online, Jaffe took to Twitter to explain his reasons for leaving ESP, his plans to continue supporting Twisted Metal and what’s ahead.

“I have zero plans to make games like Farmville and Angry Birds,” he tweeted. “I never said what I was doing post TM (and I’m still on TM along with ESP for the next months as we launch it and balance it in real-time and make sure it’s a perfect game and continue to support it).

At the same time I will be opening a game studio here in San Diego because I really miss internal game development. I’m leaving because – again – games are just getting 2 big to direct from 300 miles away & I miss the day 2 day of working direct w/team.”

Jaffe also stressed that he currently has no concrete plans on what his next game will be under his new studio or for which platform(s). As of now Twisted Metal is his top priority.

To begin, we apologize for this very long running poll. which has been up since, oh God, November? Anyway, in total, we only had 213 votes. For the most part, people seem satisfied with the overall look of the XMB, with most of the people only wanting some minor changes (and Very Satisfied isn’t too far behind, either, and neither is the option for those who are OK with it). Out of the negative choices, love for the 360 dashboard still outranked people who don’t care or weren’t satisfied with it.

On a personal note, I actually like the XMB. The only real thing I’d like to have is a better way to sort and group things (and a search feature) to make finding specific stuff easier, as the grouping and album creating stuff now can get a little cumbersome over time, especially since there are more and more PSN, errr, SEN games on peoples’ consoles (as well as photos, videos, music, etc).

New Poll

This Poll Idea comes from Cheeto (who will get the 200 points for the idea), and it’s asking the question a lot of people might be asking right now, and that’s whether or not you’re ready for the next generation of consoles (I was actually going to ask about the PSN/SEN change, but figured no one would really care). Anyway, have at it! Choices range from “Take my money already!” to “I could care less.”

Given this point in time, these results could really go either way.

I am Alive – Survivor Trailer

“In the newest trailer for I Am Alive, the main character discusses the importance of climbing, managing stamina and exploring for resources in the post-apocalyptic world of Haventon.”

I am Alive, is being developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, and is scheduled for release on the SEN sometime this spring.

One year after a worldwide cataclysmic event that wiped out most of the human race, a man struggles for survival in a desolate city as he tries to reunite with his long lost family. In this post-apocalyptic tale, there are no supernatural threats, just an everyman who faces a decaying and hazardous world and humanity’s darkest inclinations. Will you hang on to your humanity and help strangers or are you ready to sacrifice others in order to survive?

Final Fantasy XIII-2 ‘Opponent: Lightning & Amodar’ DLC Now Available

It hasn’t been a week and already we are seeing the first DLC content for Square-Enix’s bread and butter, Final Fantasy XIII-2. According to the press release,

In this first Coliseum battle, “Lightning and her former superior officer stand in the way of Serah and Noel. When defeated, Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar can be added to the player’s party.”

Square-Enix also promises that “Additional episodes which enhance the experience and complement the narrative of FINAL FANTASY XIII-2 with storyline branches for key characters in the story will be revealed at a later date.”

Get it now on the PlayStation Network, I mean, the Sony Entertainment Network!

Medal of Honor 2 Details Coming March 6

An invite today turned up in my inbox stating an event on March 6. Now March 6 happens to be during the middle of the Game Developers Convention, so there is no doubt this will be some kind of viral event for the game.

Medal of Honor showcased a tight single player campaign not seen by today’s shooters. Very direct and straight to the point, not overly done. It looks like the elite members of the Tier One squad, members on Delta, DEVGRU (SEAL Team 6), and 24th Special Tactics, are coming back with Medal Of Honor 2.

Starhawk: Limited Edition Announced

The official PlayStation Blog revealed the limited edition of the upcoming PS3 exclusive third person shooter: Starhawk. The game is developed by LightBox Interactive and Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It will feature 2-4 split screen multiplayer and 32 players online.
You can acquire the limited edition for no additional costs by pre-ordering the game from Gamestop. The limited edition will include 2 DLC, the original soundtrack and a code to download Warhawk from the PlayStation store.

Here is the full list of Starhawk Limited Edition Contents:

- Maw of Despair Outcast Pack: Includes the Maw of Despair Co-op Map and Shade Warrior MP Skin
This challenging co-op mission takes place deep beneath the planet’s surface in a particularly dangerous Rift mine. The Maw of Despair is home to the oldest Outcast tribe, the Shade Warriors.
