I would love to go someday. They also short Ghibli movies in the Saturn Theater there, which can only be seen there.

You can’t take photos inside the museum, just outside. Here is the reason:

*Photography and video recording are not allowed inside the Museum.

-The Ghibli Museum is a portal to a storybook world. As the main character in a story, we ask that you experience the Museum space with your own eyes and senses, instead of through a camera’s viewfinder. We ask that you make what you experienced in the Museum the special memory that you take home with you.

Have you gone to this magical place?

Mmm, once the baby is here I’ll have to start saving a buck a day so someday the wife and I can take a trip to Japan (sorry, but the kid will have to stay with someone here since two people making a trip is easier than three) and ad this to the huge list of places I would like to visit while there.

When I go I want to go for at least 2 weeks, ideally 3 weeks.

Yeah, you loose two days traveling as is so if you’re going to make the trip, you need to make the most of it. Great chance to buy several games you can’t play because they’re in japanese but you can get them for cheaper than importing them directly.
