Yeah, you loose two days traveling as is so if you’re going to make the trip, you need to make the most of it. Great chance to buy several games you can’t play because they’re in japanese but you can get them for cheaper than importing them directly.

When I go I want to go for at least 2 weeks, ideally 3 weeks.

I really like Ponyo, but it’s hard to pick just 2 to start out on. Kiki is ok. Not one of my favs.

Mmm, once the baby is here I’ll have to start saving a buck a day so someday the wife and I can take a trip to Japan (sorry, but the kid will have to stay with someone here since two people making a trip is easier than three) and ad this to the huge list [...]

Thanks, I’ll make sure we check them out. I think we’ll probably go for Nausicaa as I think I have that here somewhere plus I’m sure the guy who created my favourite series (Neon Genesis Evangelion) worked on it too.

@jcmoorehead I’d go with Totoro for sure and one of these 2:

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (more of a serious movie but very good, my favorite)
Castle in the Sky
