Lock and load, come get some!!!! Aliens have stolen all the hot chicks, particularly Duke’s twin playthings….Oh and they drank his beer, now its time to kick some ass.
Sadly this game with all its major hype released to some poor reviews, I think it got only one or two favorable reviews, but the rest were..well dismal. This caused 2K Games’ PR firm, The Redner Group, to lash out at the gaming press on their twitter account that caused 2K to drop the firm due to the comments made, which threatened to withhold future review titles to the press. Yikes!
But on to the goods, the game! So as I mentioned, this game was released to some very abysmal review scores, and has been the butt of many jokes and subject to some major ridicule. The game picks up 12 years after the events of Duke Nukem 3D, which have made him world famous and the object of much desire! The game starts out in a kind of tutorial mode where you get oriented with the game controls and a few weapons….Now I’m going to drop a bit of a spoiler here, well it’s not really a spoiler, more of a heads up, you are in a locker room and you start the game by urinating (yes I’m serious) after exploring the room there are bathroom stalls, open one of these and you can grab a chocolate log out of the toilet for a trophy…yes you grab poop and get a trophy. For some people this will set the tone for the rest of the game.
It seems that a Tweet out of emotion just cost a PR Company its job. The Redner Group, 2K Games PR company, Tweeted the following yesterday in response to many negative reviews for Duke Nukem:
“Too many went too far with their reviews…we are reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn’t based on today’s venom” “Bad scores are fine. Venom filled reviews…that’s completely different”
They then apologized for the Tweet:

Just announced out of PAX is that Duke Nukem Forever has been revived by Gearbox. This is going to be a multi-platform released as the heading suggests and that it’s in the polishing stages. What has also been confirmed is that it will include a multiplayer option. All we know as of right now is that it’s going to be released sometime in 2011. Hopefully this time it really makes it out the door.
Notice how the TV is SONY and the remote is an XBOX controller. A match made in heaven!
I’ve been anticipating this game since I stumbled upon the website from 2K’s main page while looking for information on BioShock Infinite. I was surprised I hadn’t heard about it before, but I guess my agonizing waiting of L.A. Noire, and Rockstar’s little to no information about it made me pursue other games. It seems to be GTA 1950 with similar missions, cars and weapons in a huge open world, which looks pretty much exactly like Liberty City, except it’s not.
The city is Empire Bay, not related to the Empire City which had the crap kicked out of by a terrorist bomb and a dude who shoots lightning out of his hands in InFamous, and it looks exactly like New York City, even though the Czech dudes who produced the game said that Empire Bay was based off multiple cities in the United States, but mostly New York. Just in the trailer, you can see the Chrysler Building, Empire State Building and Brooklyn Bridge. All that was missing was the Statue of Liberty in the Empire Bay harbor.
I know there has been a lot of hate about the PS3 version of Mafia II, but for those of you still interested in the game, check out this 1 hour gameplay special they had earlier today:
