Now is the time to finish our Deathspank trilogy games review blitz! If you missed the earlier episodes, do not hesitate to check my review of Deathspank 1: Orphans of Justice here, and Deathspank 2: Thongs of Virtue here.
This third game in the Deathspank franchise was made after Ron Gilbert had left HotHead Games, and it was apparent in this game that the creative head had changed.
If you are curious, an earlier review of The Baconing was done by pedrolabate a few years ago. My review is a second take on this game and wraps our look back on the trilogy.
Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue is the second episode of the Deathspank trilogy, and was originally released only a few months after the first DeathSpank game, which I loved. This game is still made by Ron Gilbert and HotHead Games. I purchased this game the day it came out, and since the first one made a huge impression on me, my hopes were high. Let’s find out if this sequel is as fun as the first game!
DeathSpank is a trilogy that was released between 2010 and 2011, a series of games made by industry legend Ron Gilbert (who you might recall for, say, the Monkey Island games) and HotHead Games. I purchased DeathSpank (the first game) in a heartbeat after trying the demo several years ago
Since this is a series that deserves a second look, I thought it might be good to do a review for each of the games in the trilogy, in order to make you see why it deserves your time! We’ll start with Orphans of Justice, but reviews for DeathSpank 2 (Thongs of Virtue) and DeathSpank 3 (The Baconing) will also go live in the following weeks!
Deathspank: The Baconing isn’t your average PSN Title. Its graphics far exceeded my expectations, and some of the features are far from the standard on titles like this. The game is first and foremost a hack and slash, but the most interesting aspect of the game is the over-the-top humor. With that said, my experience with the game had mixed results. Even though it certainly offered me good entertainment, a game breaking glitch (that happened on the 4th “chapter”) prevented me from finishing it, so I took it to heart and gathered enough information to finish writing this.
Okay people of the internet. We have another awesome contest! The publisher, UTV Ignition Entertainment, has given us a pair of codes for their awesome new game Swarm. For those that haven’t heard about the game, you are totally …
When DeathSpank came out on the PSN a few weeks ago, I tried the demo a few moments and immediately bought the game after! I was amazed by both the gameplay and the dialogs, and completed the game (and got all trophies) in under 10 hours. The game was excellent, but a little too short!
I subscribed to HotHead’s newletter (the DeathSpam) and received this email yesterday! A DeathSpank sequel is coming!
