PlayStation Move Official – GDC Press Conference Recap and Replay

Well, Sony’s press conference had just ended, with an interview with Jack Tretton. First up, the name, as mentioned earlier by Tosh, is definitely PlayStation Move. Of course, the device will be released this fall. Sony will be releasing both the standalone controllers, as well as a bundle, which includes the controller plus the PlayStation Eye, for an MSRP of $99.99.

The controller also comes with a secondary piece of hardware, which connects wirelessly, called the “sub controller”. I guess they ran out of name ideas. Anyway, this device contains a control interface to allow you to move around a play field, etc, in the same vein as the “nunchuck” on the Wii. It also connects wirelessly. It appears, though, that you need two of the controllers for both to have motion sensing, but I missed whether or not the bundle would include the second one.

Highlights
First off, I’m going to add in the video store updates as well, but those won’t go up until tomorrow. I was thinking about doing the Digital Comics store, but sinceit’s currently PSP-only, and I don’t know the interest on here, I’ll leave you with the link. Anyway, this week’s biggest highlight is that the demo is now available in EU and US territories. There are also some new Dynamic themes available, including Flower and WipeoutHD (in the US, EU territories only get the Trash Panic theme this week).

EU territories are still having a big sale going on, but nothing beyond that. It’s a pretty dry week for the Stores. Except for the Heavy Rain demo, the only other demos are an assortment of PSP titles. Be sure to come back tomorrow and check this topic out for the Video Store update.

PlayStation Store Global Update 02/04/10

Highlights
Not much with this update, except for a few standouts. First and foremost, there are some high profile demos you’ll be able to download today, including Aliens vs Predator and Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (which takes place on a map different from the beta a lot of us were in). EU territories also get Final Fantasy VIII as a PSOne Classic, which US and JP territories had already had for a while.

The EU store also has some sales going on until the 18th, so if you’re a bargain hunter or was just waiting on a particular game to get a price drop, check the EU store tab for more details.

Since the US store hasn’t come online yet, I’m not sure what other highlights will become of that, so be sure to come back on later when that gets updated. Until then, be sure to check out the above two demos. I know I’m pretty excited for the AvP one now haha.

UPDATE: The US store is now online. Highlights from that include a total of 5 demos, including one for the newly released PSN title Fret Nice and other titles including Dynasty Warriors: Strike Force and Tank Battles. There are also a couple new PSP games as well, an Armored Core title being one of them.

Also available are two new dynamic themes for White Knight Chronicles and Star Trek at $2.99 each. It seems to have a little more substance than other regions at least.
