Max Payne 3: Design and Technology
Posted by Jay in Max Payne 3, Media on November 17th, 2011
Oh how I love Rockstar Games. As you know, over the past few titles released by the company, we’ve been treated to a number of narrative gameplay videos detailing some of the features of a game or the technology behind it. You might remember these namely with titles such as Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire (I’m not completely sure, but maybe GTAIV used them as well).
Keeping with this new tradition is another upcoming Rockstar title, Max Payne 3, and I gotta say, based on this video alone (there will be 5 of these types of videos in all), I am pretty speechless. In fact, you should have seen me struggling to pick my jaw up off the floor with my bad back. Every bullet is rendered in real time? 360 degree shooting, even in prone? Thousands of animations that seamlessly flow into each other? Natural Motion’s ‘Euphoria’ physics for dynamic reactions to gunshot wounds? Well, I’m pretty confident this has now made my Most Wanted list.
The video above showcases gameplay design choices from targeting and shooting, movement and animation, to the series staple, Bullet Time. Hell, even the artificial intelligence has a wide breadth of capabilities.
Seriously, just watch the video.
Max Payne 3 – First Trailer Released
Posted by Pedro in Max Payne 3, Media on September 14th, 2011
We have all been waiting for this moment to come and finally, the first trailer to the long awaited Max Payne sequel was released by Rockstar Games.
As a fan of the game, and a São Paulo inhabitant, I must say the trailer not only didn’t disappoint me, but it hooked me from the very first line and took me back to the incredible story of the unluckiest video game protagonist I can think of. Everything looks good and, as expected, Max’s voice is still setting the dark tone for the game.
Did I mention this trailer is made up entirely from in-game footage?

Official Double Review: LA Noire
Posted by Jay in Featured, L.A. Noire, Reviews on June 13th, 2011

This is the first time we have ever done a double review for a title. We’ll have both reviews on the same post, but it should help give you a much broader look as to what to expect from the title if you haven’t already picked it up. Maybe, if people enjoy it, we’ll do these more often (especially if both sides have opposing views on the games).
LA Noire is one of those big name games that could use a good tearing apart to get the full picture of what the game is about and why it’s either great or a disappointment.
With that said, Baba Booey and I decided, amidst the confusion of who was going to review this, we’ll be doing a double review to have a little fun. He’s like my partner on the case (which suits the game well, as you’ll work with a partner throughout the game). Baba will start the review off with his take of the game on the first tab, and mine will follow. Hopefully you’ll enjoy reading it! And please, leave a comment and let us know what you think and whether or not we should do more double reviews!
