Here’s some good news for Call of Duty fans. If you ever get tired of shooting at other soldiers in Call of Duty: Black Ops, you can switch targets and shoot at… undead soldiers.
Yep, zombies are will be making an appearance in the upcoming CoD release from Treyarch. As confirmed by community manager Josh Olin(Shown Below), all existing zombie maps in Call of Duty: World at War will be available as callback co-op levels in Black Ops‘ Hardened and Prestige editions. The Hardened and Prestige special editions are now available for pre-order. Call of Duty: Black Ops commences operations on November 9, 2010.
Is a beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops getting ready to roll out? Seems like that’s the case, according to an ad over at Bing.com.
An ad on the righthand side of the “black ops mp teaser download link” page shows this suspicious looking byline. “Sign up for your Beta Key now. Be the first to test.” If sign ups are now open, then there definitely is something cooking for Black Ops’ beta phase.
The only thing is that Activision or Treyarch has yet to say anything on the matter. Still, you can check out the ad for yourself by clicking on the source link below. Just make sure youdon’t have your ad block on, or else you won’t be able to spot the ad.
Earlier today, IGN has reported that the next Call of Duty was, in fact, called Call of Duty: Black Ops, despite reporting yesterday that it was more than likely going to be called: CoD: Vietnam. After the initial official announcement of the title, IGN also revealed the various locations in the game, by way of a game description on retailer Game’s website (that has since been taken down):
Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done. From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!
And finally, the Game Trailers TV unveiling of the first teaser trailer has been released and can be seen above. From the looks of things, there will be quite a bit of vehicle warfare, and I don’t know what missions these would entail, but near the end, you see a guy in a space suit, as well as an SR-71 Blackbird flying right at the edge of the atmosphere. One of the cooler, and more mysterious, details is the use of unconventional weaponry. Is that stuff we probably never seen or, possibly, the use of napalm bombs, etc? Here’s hoping Treyarch can pull this off and make Call of Duty an enjoyable experience again.
This Friday/Thursday night, GameTrailers TV will be unveiling the new announcement trailer for the newest Treyarch Call of Duty game. We’ll finally be able to see where they decided to take the series, but most have speculated that it will be during the Cold War/Vietnam (which, in my opinion, could be a good thing). GTTV will be on at 12:40AM EST on Spike TV.
UPDATE: It will be Friday night/Saturday morning when it’s available.
