Jobs not Impressed with Cell
It seems like mister jeans-and-turtleneck Steve Jobs didn’t take a shine to the Cell processor when approached last year by Ken Kutaragi.
In a New York Times article, Jobs reportedly met Kutaragi and Sony chairman Nobuyuki Idei last year to explore processor alternatives. Kutaragi tried to interest Jobs in using the Cell processor in exchange for access to particular Sony technologies. Jobs rejected the idea and told Kutaragi that he was disappointed with the Cell design and believes it will be even less effective than the PowerPC.
Shucks. If Mr. Jobs disapproves it’s gotta be bad, right? … chuckle chuckle…
