Tekken 6 Midnight Launch Details

Me and my friends (Matt on the left, Ty on the right) showed up around 10 p.m. Luckily we brought something to entertain us. Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection on the PSP. We had local ad-hoc battles while we waited. Sorry for the low res photos, didn’t want to bring my nice camera so I just used my cell phone.

We are all pretty evenly matched in terms of Tekken skills. So that makes it fun to battle each other. Funny quote my friend made “I like to pretend I can fight using a video game”.

Sometimes we grew desperate and tried to open the locked door, as shown above.

Around 11:15 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. the nerds of the night slowly came out of the darkness and gathered in front of the glowing Gamestop sign. They where also doing a midnight launch for DJ Hero and Forza Motorsport 3. Two or three people showed up for DJ Hero, one for Forza 3, then about five people for Tekken 6. But only me and my friends got the LE edition of Tekken 6.

At midnight they let us inside, and they called out names it seemed at random. Finally our names where called and we claimed our prized Tekken 6 LE. That reminds me I forgot to get my pre-order bonus, so I’ll have to stop by there on the way home today.

We planned to meet online and have some online battles. I only played Online for about 40 mins. But it was fairly lag free. I didn’t do the install for the game so the loading time was kinda long. But I installed it before I went to bed.

Quick impressions. The graphics are amazing, the motion blur looks great. Great way to show off the motion blur it to play as Yoshimitsu. The wireless arcade stick is thin, which I like. Feels solid and responds great, I noticed no lag. It comes with 2 AA batteries, but I wish it came with rechargeable batteries.

Looked like Wolverine decided to get in on the midnight release action as well.
