Dead Space 2 Isn’t dead.
EA has annouced a sequel to its space horror hit; Dead Space with Visceral Games developing the title. There had been reports that the series would get cut as EA looked to cut the dead wood from their lineup but it has now been confirmed Dead Space, after selling 1.4 million units, has made the cut.
Players reprise the role of the original’s protagonist, deep space mining engineer turned alien slayer Isaac Clarke. It promises to deliver “new tools to gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs†and more zero-G environmental action.
“In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of youâ€.
Steve Papoutsis, Executive Producer, EA
Dead Space 1 seemed to be more of a hit with gamers rather than critiques with reviewers citing it as a thief of other survival horror titles and whilst the storyline was obvious with some plot holes the gameplay was solid making it a decent shooter with an original dismembering mechanic. I know whilst I didn’t think the game was amazing I did play it enough to get the Platinum trophy so I shall be keeping an eye on the sequel.
No release date has yet been revealed. but I’d expect it just before Christmas 2010.
