The Weekly Recap (December 27th-January 2nd)

Ah yes, the first recap of the year! Due to lack of entries, the Best Game of the Decade and GotY and all that has been postponed until we get a good number of participants, so if you haven’t nominated any games yet, be sure to check out the nomination/voting page here. It was another relatively slow week and we ended out the year more or less with the usual opinion pieces and few actual announcements, but there has been a lot of new stuff happening in the community, which will be detailed in the next section.

One nice thing, though, New Game Releases will begin to make a comeback this week, seeing as we have a couple titles this week and will have games like Army of Two: the 40th Day and MAG to be released later this month. 2010 is already looking to start out strong, and knowing the way the PlayStation 3 has been going the past few months, we can only expect good things to come.

Also, just a little note, since I started the Weekly Recap way back in July, we’ve had a total of 645 counted articles alone last year. I couldn’t believe it haha. As for Contributors of the Week, here’s a compiled list of them, plus their number of articles that gave them the wins, starting from greatest number to least::

  • JimmyMagnum // Won 7 times // 58 Total
  • Eddie // Won 5 times // 56 total
  • Tosh // Won 7 times // 54 total
  • Trev // Won 7 times // 46 total
  • fleakitten // Won 1 time // 5 total
  • thepreppymonk/No Kill Tayler // Won 1 time // 5 total

Does that mean I win Contributor of the Year? 😛

Anyway, let’s get down to business

First of, congratulations to Trev on becoming an official member of the blog’s staff. Quite an honor! I’ve seen him around here as far back as I can remember haha. Of course, when I first started coming here, I couldn’t get registered and posted as a guest all the time :P.

Also, there’s a new feature the blog is going to be using for live press events that will allow attendees to post live, streaming news from the showroom floor, assuming members from this blog will be attending and have internet capabilities to post the news in the first place. You can actually see how it worked on this post when it was being tested.over the weekend.

Enough of this jibba jabba, fools. Out of the 12 counted submissions this week, here’s the recognitions:
