RPG Spotlight: White Knight Chronicles International Edition
White Knight Chronicles finally makes it’s North American and European debut this month after being available in Japan since December 25th 2008. Developed by Level-5 ( the guys who brought us Dark Cloud and Rouge Galaxy on the PS2 ) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment exclusively for the PlayStation 3, WKCI offers a feature not found in many rpgs; an online mode that lets you create your own town called Georama.
According to the official wiki:
This system is an online mode that lets you create your own town. It can function as lobby and can allow you to set up a shop. People can enter this virtual town and also take a look around. The editing mode functions as a system that you can place from a list of objects ranging from houses and other garden accessories to anything customizable for your town. You can even have your town placed in the middle of plains, deserts, or wilderness. There are six different field types. Other items can also help you shape your hub, e.g. elevated platforms, embankments, trees, and other items. You can decorate your town however you want.
You can recruit non-player characters to join your town from your Story Mode. This makes your Georama change depending on whoever living in it. Non-player characters have jobs and specific skill levels, which will affect the kind of materials and items you can use in your Georama. Each player has their own Geonet that can create up to 20 Georama rooms.
On this note, a maximum of 12 people can hang out in your customized town and 4 including the host can enter your quest room.
WKC will include voice chat as well. There will also be a HOME interagation and White Knight Chronicles inspired LBP outfits and stickers. Check out the game’s character creation process:
