[PS3 Preview] We played The Awakened Fate Ultimatum!
NIS America has let us try their new rogue-like RPG The Awakened Fate Ultimatum a few days ahead of its release (March, 17th in NA and March 20th in Europe)! This game is a sequel to The Guided Fate Paradox, which we reviewed late last year. Today, I’m writing a quick preview on my impressions of the early segment of the game, so do expect a full review closer to the game’s launch!
Within minutes of the game’s beginning, the main protagonist Shin Kamikaze is killed and a mysterious girl comes to help him. When Shin awakens, he witnesses two angels (returning characters from The Guided Fate Paradox Jupiel and Ariael) fight about him. He was confused at first (as anyone would be if he got killed for no reason), and he is then drawn into the first dungeon of the game that serves as a quick tutorial. This dungeon is short and sweet as it explains the basic gameplay mechanics without being too technical, and it is over rather quickly in a few minutes. What will happen with Shin in this new life? Are Jupiel and Ariael hiding something? You’ll find out soon!
As for the game itself, I really like the art style as every character is hand-drawn and has a unique feel that helps to make teach one stand out, and so far the voice acting and music for the gme has been good as well. I can’t wait to play more in the next days to bring you the full review of this game!

The Awakened Fate Ultimatum – Trailer
Several years after a certain revolution came to pass, and the powerful Satanael was defeated, the devils were still dominant in their constant war against the angels. Meanwhile, a certain Celestia was resorting to guerilla warfare to survive. The angels focused on researching a way to create a “God” to use as their ultimate weapon against the devils. After creating the “Fate Awakening Crystal,” which can turn a human into God, the angels awaited the day to find someone who would be compatible.
Walking home from school in the human world, a boy is attacked and stabbed through the heart by a group of devils. As he lay dying, his life is saved by a mysterious girl. He wakes up in an unfamiliar location—Celestia. As if guided by the Fate Awakening Crystal implanted in his chest, he finds himself thrust into the middle of the war between angels and devils. He must harness his newly awakened powers, choose how to use them, and ultimately decide which of the two new girls in his life he will do anything to save…
If you are curious about the game and want MORE trailers, then check these out!
Character Trailer #3: Phyllis – Phyllis is the leader of the Celestia Annihilation Force in the Netherworld. Although she may look like a child, she is remarkably talented at military tactics and puts most adults to shame. However, because she often acts inhumanely, she is considered dangerous by not just the angels, but also from the devils who are supposed to be her allies.
Character Trailer #4: Hien – Hien is a human who was turned into the “Vile God” by the Fate Awakening Crystal in the Netherworld. His goals are to heighten his own power and face those who are even more powerful than he is in fair-and-square fights.
Character Trailer #5: Eri – Eri is Shin’s classmate from before he awakened as God. Because of her family situation, she doesn’t always exercise her best behavior, and she tends to stand out from her surroundings.
Character Trailer #6: Mariel – Mariel is Jupiel’s older sister. She has assumed the duties of the Archangel, the chief executive of Celestia. Her top priority is to “defeat the devils and guide Celestia to victory,” and she doesn’t hesitate to make level-headed decisions.
