[Review Revisited] Knack
Remember Knack? It was one of the launch titles from the PS4. Cute little guy, that can turn into a big huge guy? Now you remember!
Knack was one of my first experiences on the PS4 due to it being a launch title. It was an interesting game that, when looking back at it two years laters, wasn’t quite as good as I thought it was back then. The game was okay but not great. That being said I still enjoyed the game considerably. It was a great showcase for the PS4 with all of the particles for Knack, showing us something that the PS3 definitely could not do. I also enjoyed the tightly contained story as well, especially during what was basically open world overload – having a nice serialized story was a great palette cleanser.
The game struggled with the combat, which could sometimes be frustratingly cheap and difficult . The closed areas didn’t do it any favors either, and bigger levels with more to do – similar to the Katamari series – might have been more interesting.

At the end of the review, I predicted we’d get a sequel, but here we are several years later, and we have not heard anything yet. It sold well enough because it was a launch title, but did not do well critically. I still would like to see another one, as I liked the world of Knack and would like to see how they can expand on it.
