Pop the Bubbles from Digital Game Group is a match-three puzzle game set under the sea. Check out our Pop the Bubbles review!
In Pop the Bubbles from Digital Game Group, you will be tasked with saving all of the baby mermaids in each stage by popping all of the bubbles around them, hence the name of the game. You will need to shoot colorful bubbles, bouncing them off the walls as needed. You need to have at least three bubbles of the same color to make them pop.
You will aim with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, shooting bubbles with the A button. If you want to change your current bubble with the one that is next in the line, you can do this with the ZL button. You can also control Pop the Bubbles with the Nintendo Switch’s touchscreen when playing in Portable or Tabletop Mode, or when playing on a Nintendo Switch Lite.
As you progress through the game, you will gain access to power-ups to aid you on your adventure. You could, for example, use a Rainbow Boost bubble, which can make any color bubble explode, or a Super Aim power-up that will extend the line that marks where each bubble you shoot will land, which will make it easier to lineup your shots, or a Super Peak, so that you can check which bubble colors are coming up next, so that you can plan accordingly. These power-ups can be bought with the gold coins you can by completing each stage.
New elements will be added later in the game. You will get special abilities that can be activating after filling a meter by popping bubbles of the corresponding color or by spending some gold coins to instantly fill them up. These abilities grant you, for instance, a powerful fireball than can make all bubbles around its impact area explode, or a pair of exploding bubbles that will give you a lot of bang at a low price.
