Escape to the Wilderness With These Video Game Titles

Escape to the Wilderness With These Video Games
Barril

Living in the modern world can sometimes be a bit of a drag. The vast majority of us live in cities, where getting to where we want to go involves interacting with far too many people, and often traveling in cramped conditions. It’s no surprise that plenty of us look to video games as a way to escape.

If you too are sick of the rat race, then we’ve got you covered. These video games are all set right out in the depths of the wilderness, where you’re more likely to encounter a panda, or an alien than a disgruntled commuter. Whatever platform you play on, we’ve got an option for you. So, strap in, we’re going for an adventure in the sticks.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Looking for a game that takes a while for you to get to know it? Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is a classic example. We’ve already talked about Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – and of other Valhalla-themed games – and after it’s release last year, now is a great time to dive into the game on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 (if you’re one of the lucky ones who’s managed to get a next gen console).

Although the story is not strictly based in the absolute wilderness, it takes place back in the age of the Vikings, where I think we can all agree that the world was far less densely populated! You take on the role of either the Son or Daughter of Varin, a Viking raider who has to lead their followers against the Anglo-Saxons. One of the most back-to-nature elements of the game is the close relationship that the Vikings have with their animals. Your companion animal is a beautiful black raven named Synin, who is not just good company, but is key in scoping the upcoming area from the sky, to show you the best way to attack. Whilst the game is incontestably a ‘fighting’ game, it does bring you back to a simpler time. Fighting with a sword, shield, and raven by your side, rather than battling the crowds on the commuter train. At times it won’t be relaxing, but it certainly provides a proper departure from the modern world.

Green Hell

It’s worth remembering that there are some parts of the wilderness that just aren’t all that great. Green Hell is exactly the kind of game that will remind you of that, constantly. This game lands you right in the middle of the inhospitable Amazon rainforest and tells you to survive. Not only will you have to contend with venomous insects, inhospitable climates, and dangerous terrain, but also the effects of solitude on the human brain. This game isn’t a barrel of laughs, but it is a brilliant title for those who love survivalist gaming.

China Shores

Sometimes you want a game that you really have to get to know in order to play it properly. Other times you want something that you can pick up and understand within minutes. China Shores is a browser-based game that fits firmly into the latter category. The game is a slots format and can be played at Vegas Slots Online, either for free or for money, depending on the type of game you prefer. The benefits of a free game are obvious, you can play without spending any money at all, but the downside is, you obviously can’t win any money either!

This game is set in the background of a remote lagoon surrounded by hills in rural China. Leafy bamboo shields the edges of the screen, and once in a while, a golden tortoise or a giant panda pops up on the reels. The format is super simple for those who are used to online slots, but plenty easy enough to pick up for complete beginners too. If you like this game, then you can find other titles that encapsulate a wilderness theme on the same site, including Dolphin Treasure and 50 Lions.
