LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories from Thalamus Digital is a relaxing and charming experience. Check our LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories review!
In LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories from Thalamus Digital, you’ll be taking on a minimalist puzzle adventure with a low-poly presentation in which you’ll have to take on the past and the present. You’ll do this by moving each of the dioramas in the center of the screen by rotating the camera with the right analog stick and moving it up and down, so that you can get a better look at things. You’ll then move a cursor on the screen to complete specific objectives by interacting with objects or people by pressing the A button once you’ve highlighted them.
Doing this will show you short interactions, which you can then capture as photographs that are added to your photo album, displaying events from the past, as well as the ones from the present you manage to unlock. Once you’ve taken a picture and it’s added to your picture book, press the X button to back out of it, so that you can take on the next objective that the game throws at you. This will require you to use the second element for this puzzle game: rotating each floor of the building to create something new!
By pressing the L or ZL and R or ZR buttons, you’ll rotate each floor left or right, respectively. This will allow you to send areas from the past into the present and viceversa, so that you can start to fill in the missing pictures of the present. By doing this, you’ll be able to take a peek inside some of the areas, so that you can interact with people and move them around each section, so that you can uncover new information. You can zoom in and out with the Y button, which will sometimes be required to find what is needed.
Without spoiling things too much, allow me to discuss the first of such puzzles in the game. You’ll be introduced to a couple in the past. After a couple of pictures, the game asks that you find them in their apartment. After this, you’ll have to rotate the building to bring the apartment into the present, so that you can check on its current state. Once you’ve done this, you’ll peek inside and interact with a character to bring it outside to the fire escape. In order to help him get to the rooftop, you’ll have to rotate all subsequent floors so that there’s now a clear path from his floor to the top. When you complete a set of photos, you’ll complete the puzzle and move on to the next one.
LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories is a relaxing and charming puzzle experience that you can play at your own pace, as you link then past with the present, learning new things about the people you will get to meet. It’s a chill experience that you should check out on Nintendo Switch, with gameplay mechanics that pay homage to classic point and click adventure games while setting everything within a low-poly diorama. LOVE – A Puzzle Box Filled with Stories is out on Nintendo Switch with a $19.99 asking price.
