Slap the Rocks from eastasiasoft and AFIL Games is a top-down rock-pushing puzzle game on PlayStation 5. The game has 30 stages for you to play through, and the goal for all of them is the same: reach the treasure chest as you knock stones around to cover the holes that are keeping you from the treasure! The white rocks are the only ones you can slide around each stage as you use your sword to move them around as needed.

The controls are simple. You’ll move your character around with the left analog stick or the D-Pad. You need to plan not only your character’s movement but also the actions you’ll perform. The X button will be used to swing a sword so that you can cut down any bushes on your way. The button will also be used to swing your sword at the hexagonal rocks so that they slide until they bump into something. Once you’ve placed all stones into the black holes on the floor, you’ll be able to reach the treasure chest to clear the stage. If you make a mistake along the way, reset the level by interacting with the redo sign on each stage.

Trophy-wise, this game offers a short trophy list with a Platinum trophy. You’ll unlock 11 Gold trophies and a single Silver trophy as you complete stages 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12, 14, 16, 18, and 20 out of the 30 stages that Slap the Rock has to offer. There is some good news for trophy hunters since all levels are open right from the start. On top of this, the game is Cross-Buy, so your purchase gives you access to both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game, and each one has its own trophy list!

Slap the Rocks Review - 3

Slap the Rocks is a colorful game with easy gameplay mechanics and a simple premise that will keep you busy for an hour and change. Be sure to pay attention to each level’s layout since the difficulty ramps up at a steady pace, and you’ll sometimes need to uncover some of the rocks that are hidden inside bushes! Slap the Rocks is out as a Cross-Buy release with a $4.99 price, and you’ll get both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game with separate trophy lists to work on.
