Chefy-Chef from Ratalaika Games and BUG-Studio is a colorful 2D platformer on PlayStation 5. You’ll be playing as the titular Chef named Chefy, who sets out on a quest to find the ingredients he needs to make his favorite dish: pineapple-radish salad! When he opens his fridge, he ends up being sucked into another world where he’ll have to search high and low to find all of the ingredients before it’s too late! Activate any checkpoints you find along the way so that if you lose all of your health, you can give it another go right away.
You’ll take on 60 stages that are split across three different worlds. Your goal for each of these levels will always be the same: locate the three ingredients for Chefy’s favorite dish. You’ll move your character with the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you jump and double jump with the X button. Once you find all ingredients, locate the fridge and hop into it to move on to the next stage. As you progress through the game, you’ll gain access to some of your cooking tools, which will be mapped to the L1, R1, and Square buttons.
What are these tools, you ask? A very sharp knife, a frying pan, and a hammer! The knife will allow you to climb up walls, and you can also use it to attack by throwing it with the L1 button. The frying pan can be thrown forward so that Chefy can teleport to its location by pressing the button again. The hammer will allow you to soar through the air with a high jump. You’ll have to collect these tools in each level you play since they won’t carry over. Each level will also have a secret burger hidden somewhere for you to find. If you see the tall grass or vines swinging a lot, that means a secret burger is hiding. Find enough secret burgers, and you’ll unlock new colors for the Chef’s uniform, clothes, and hair for you to customize his look in the wardrobe.
As for the trophies, Chefy-Chef has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy. The list includes 2 Silver trophies and 11 Gold trophies. Some of the trophies will unlock once you find the knife, the pan, and the hammer. Another trio will be tied to defeating your first frog, monkey, and croco. Then there’s another group of trophies for collecting 5, 10, and 15 secret burgers. The rest of the trophies will pop when you complete 5, 10, 15, and 20 levels, which means that as long as you find 15 secret burgers within the first 20 levels, you don’t need to complete all 60 stages in the game.
Chefy-Chef is a colorful and fun 2D platformer with 60 levels to complete as you set out on a quest to find the ingredients for your pineapple-radish salad. Can you find all the secret burgers to unlock the different customization options for Chefy? Chefy-Chef is out as a Cross-Buy title, so your $4.99 purchase will give you access to both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game with a single purchase.
