Wild West Crops from Ratalaika Games and lightUP is a colorful bite-sized Metroidvania on PlayStation. The pair have previously given us 2D platformers such as Barry the Bunny as well as Prehistoric Dude, which is why Wild West Crops has a look and feel that will at times remind you of these games. For this one, you’ll be playing as El Gatito, a cat who is fighting against the mutant craps that are attacking Meowtown. This all happened because of a radioactive meteorite that landed on the city’s plantations, thus turning the crops into mutants!

El Gatito can move around each area with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, jumping with the X button and shooting with the Square button. The Square button can also be used to push or pull objects. To launch explosives, use the Circle button. With this being a bite-sized Metroidvania, you’ll collect items that will allow you to reach new locations. Without spoiling things too much, you could, for example, get the Strong Claws, which will allow you to grab onto ledges. Press the Triangle button to open your map so that you can see where you’ve already been and what rooms you should try to explore. This will also show you your inventory.

Wild West Crops offers a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy, and since the game is Cross-Buy, you will get both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game, with each one having a separate trophy list. You’ll have to unlock 11 Gold trophies to get that Platinum, and the good news is that none of the trophies are missable! To get all trophies, you’ll have to collect 25, 50, and 100 coins, defeat 25, 50, 100, and 150 enemies, open one treasure chest, open five treasure chests, defeat the first boss, and reach the second boss. This also means that you can get the Platinum trophy in around 30 minutes or so.
