Colorful and hectic party game SUPER UFO FIGHTER FROM Phoenixx and VV-LABO is ready for you on Nintendo Switch. UFO pilots – known as Shwooper – compete in intense 1v1 battles in Shwoop UFO, the hottest competitive sport in the whole universe! You must collect as many items in the goal as possible. By making good use of your shwoop beam, you’ll collect an item before your rival does and then take it to the goal before being attacked. You can also use the shwoop beam to intercept or attack your opponent and can collect special items to boost your UFO.
As soon as you boot up the game, you’ll be presented with a short tutorial that will teach you all of the basics. You will control your UFO with the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you attack with the A or Y buttons. This attack can be used on your opponent or to break open the capsules that are hiding the items that need to be collected. Once an item has been revealed, you can use the swhoop beam with the B or X buttons to try and get a hold of as many items as possible so that you can drop them in your goal tube.
The more items you drop in your goal tube, the more the defense bar will lower, thus making it easier to grab and drop more items in the goal tube without having to circle around it. And for those times when the defense bar might be a bit too high for you to maneuver around it to drop some items in the goal tube, you can use warp pipes to instantly teleport items! Just be sure to pay attention to where the other end of the warp pipe is pointing so that the items are dropped into your goal tube. A shiny object will show up at the top of the screen, which is known as the Target. Break open as many capsules as needed so that you can find it, collect it, and drop it into your goal tube to be rewarded with a point. If your opponent grabs it first, then be sure to use your attacks and shwoop beam to try and grab it!
Once the tutorial has been taken care of, you’ll be able to play locally or online in 1v1 battles. You can go for Target Battle, which is the main mod for SUPER UFO FIGHTER, take on some Training to hone your skills with your favorite character, play Hot Potato, in which you’ll be playing with an exploding ball, or take on the Campaign! The Campaign Mode will have you joining Lulu and friends on a series of story-based battles. You can also visit the Museum, where you can listen to game music and review items received during battle.
Going back to the Museum section, there are tons of items for you to collect as you take on the many Shwoop UFO battles in your future. These will include, for example, instant yakisoba, a globe, a shuttlecock, a squid, a copy of MU magazine, a scrunchie, bubble tea, a golden muscle man trophy, an electric guitar, a lab coat, or even a mighty telescope! Some items will show up only in specific stages, so if you want to 100% the game, you’ll have to play in all of them. I suggest you start by playing the Campaign Mode and then play the multiplayer options so that you can get the hang of things, as well as unlock all characters since only three of the six pilots are available when you start to play.
SUPER UFO FIGHTER is a colorful and hectic party game that is easy to pick up, as well as easy to recommend. It’s an all-ages experience that gamers of all skill levels can enjoy, and it’s a great option for the younger gamers in your life. The game offers local and online 1v1 multiplayer, as well as a single-player Campaign Mode to explore, all for an $11.99 asking price on Nintendo Switch.
