Maggie the Magnet from eastasiasoft and Khud0 is a physics-based 2D puzzle game on PlayStation. Learn more in our Maggie the Magnet review!

Maggie the Magnet from eastasiasoft and Khud0 is a physics-based 2D puzzle game on PlayStation. This publisher and developer combo previously gave us Blow Fly on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, in which you had to help a blowfish land in the toilet. For this one, you’ll be playing as the titular character, and you must help Maggie to cross through the lines that lead outside of the level. Avoid pointy spikes, don’t fall into the sharp blades of fans, and make the most of your momentum to take on the 150 levels that Maggie the Magnet has to offer.

The controls are very simple since all you need to do is press the X button so that Maggie is attracted and pulled towards another magnet… and that’s it! Press the X button to launch Maggie flying in this or that direction so that you can complete a level. Other than that, you can press the Triangle button to restart a level to give it another go or press the Square button to change the color palette for the game, which will also change the background music. The color palette and background music will also change automatically at a steady pace.

Each set of levels will have some gears for you to collect along the way – three for each stage – as well as a secret section to find. Yes, you can complete a level without collecting the three gears, but since there’s a trophy that will be awarded to you for collecting all of the gears in one set of levels, you should work on this as you play through the first set of 10 levels and find the secret level that holds the final three gears for the set. If you missed some, this could be done later on any set of levels, or you can replay previous sets to find the level with the entrance for the secret one.

Speaking of trophies, this one has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy to work on. The list includes 2 Bronze trophies, 10 Silver trophies, and 8 Gold trophies for your collection. Along with the aforementioned trophy, you’ll have to find a secret area, complete a level without collecting any gears, use a lever to remove some blocks, use a gears block to destroy a bunch of fans, throw a gears block at spikes, land on spikes on the floor, hit some spikes on the roof, get hit by a laser, teleport ten times in a single level, collect 150 gears, and more. And since the game is a Cross-Buy title, you’ll get both the PS4 and PS5 versions at no extra cost.

Physics-based 2D puzzle games are usually games of the love it or hate it variety, meaning they won’t be for everyone. As for Maggie the Magnet, it’s a budget release at only $4.99, and with 150 levels to play, that’s plenty of content for a low cost. Add how it’s also a Cross-Buy title with two Platinum trophies to add to your collection, and it’s an easy one to recommend to fans of the genre and trophy hunters alike.
