Super Jagger Bomb from eastasiasoft and CheapeeSoft Games is a 2D arcade-style game on PlayStation 5. Learn more in our Super Jagger Bomb review!

Super Jagger Bomb from eastasiasoft and CheapeeSoft Games is a 2D arcade-style game on PlayStation 5. It’s inspired by Mighty Bomb Jack, which was originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System – a.k.a. the NES – back in 1986 in Japan, with a North American version launching in 1987, followed by the European version in 1988. As for Super Jagger Bomb, your task will require you to collect all of the bombs in each of the 100 levels that the game has to offer. Can you help the titular caped hero succeed?

The controls are very simple since you’ll be controlling Jagger with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, jumping with the X button to reach all of the bombs in each level. The height of your jump will depend on how long you press and hold down the X button. After jumping, you can press the X button again to hover for a bit, which can help you grab some of the bombs or to avoid some of the enemies. Oh, and collecting bombs in the order shown at the start of each level will reward you with bonus points.

The longer it takes you to collect all of the bombs in a level, the more enemies will spawn on the screen. Each one will have a different movement and attack pattern, and a single hit is all it will take to defeat Jagger. When you’re defeated, you’ll have a short window of opportunity to grab some bombs before more enemies show up. At least power-ups will also spawn, allowing you to stop enemies for a few seconds, destroy all of them with a powerbomb, and even gain some extra lives.

Since this one is from eastasiasoft, there’s a Platinum trophy on the horizon. And with this one being a Cross-Buy title, you will get both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game with your purchase, and each version will feature its own trophy list. The list includes 5 Silver trophies and 10 Gold trophies, and you’ll have to complete the tutorial as well as beat stages 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100, and to get at least 100,000 points. If you need some extra help, you can check out this Super Jagger Bomb Trophy Guide.

Super Jager Bomb Review - 4

Super Jagger Bomb is a 2D arcade-style game that pays homage to the classics of an old-school era. Unfortunately, the final product ends up missing its mark. The gameplay is repetitive, and the controls feel too floaty, which does not make for an entertaining experience. Super Jagger Bomb is available as a Cross-Buy title, so your $4.99 purchase will give you both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 versions of the game at no extra cost, and each one will have its own trophy list.
