Escape String from 7 Raven Studios and BumbleBee is a 2D puzzle game in which you control a small humanoid robot. After receiving a cryptic message from someone who seems to be trying to help him, the robot sets out to explore the factory. There are 40 levels in total to complete, and for each one, you’ll have to take into consideration the placement of each hazard and robot so that you can plan accordingly.

Escape String Review - 1

Your goal is simple: go through the door on the right. To do this, you’ll have to add inputs into a string by using the D-Pad to then play it by pressing the ZR or A buttons. This means that the robot can move left, right, crouch, crawl, or jump. Once you’re satisfied with the choices you’ve made and have tried them out, you’ll have to adjust as needed. Each string can contain a maximum of 15 inputs. To complete a level, you can’t use more than three strings.

Once you’ve tried a potential solution, you might need to erase an input by pressing the ZL or B buttons. You can also move the highlighted string left or right as needed. If the robot is already crouching, a down input will make it stand, while an up input will make it stand and then jump. For longer levels, you can use the left or right analog sticks to move the camera around so that you can get a better look.

You’ll be graded on your performance, so if you want to 100% the game, you’ll have to find out the minimum combination of inputs to complete a level, as well as reach the end by using only a single string. Do this, and you’ll be rewarded with a Gold Chip! You’ll need some trial and error to find the right solution for each puzzle so that you can finish your journey with all 40 Gold Chips to unlock all of the bonus skins for the robot.
