Bones of Halloween from Ratalaika Games and Petite Games is an arena-style first-person shooter where you must defeat the evil pumpkin skeletons. You wake up in a dark forest and quickly realize that the aforementioned pumpkin skeletons are hunting you down! You’ll have to avoid them and dodge their attacks as you try to defeat them as fast as possible, as you collect Fortune Cards that can introduce random good or bad effects during your run.

Bones of Halloween Review - 1

There are two options for playing the game: Survival Modes and Challenges. Survival Modes is plural because it includes five different options: Classic Mode, Arcade Mode, Hardcore Mode, Money Dripper, and Explosive Mode. In Classic Mode, you can collect money, purchase weapons and obtain Fortune Cards. In Arcade Mode, weapons are free, and there are no Fortune Cards. For Hardcore Mode, enemies will be harder to beat, but Fortune Cards will be available. In Money Dripper, you get more money, but you’re constantly losing it, so you must spend it as soon as possible. The last one is Explosive Mode, in which you’ll have a mighty rocket launcher to make enemies go boom.

In Challenges, you’ll have to complete a series of objectives after selecting the Easy, Medium, Hard, and Extreme difficulty settings. Each of said difficulty settings will have different ones to work on based on what you can do in the Survival Modes. These include things such as defeating 5 enemies in Classic Mode, unlocking a Fortune Card, finding an Ammo Box in Money Dripper Mode, or blowing up 10 enemies in Explosive Mode. The controls are simple since you’ll move your character with the left analog stick as you aim and look around with the right one. You can shoot with the R2 button and can switch between weapons by using the L1 and R1 buttons as soon as you obtain a second weapon.

Bones of Halloween Review -2

Since this one is from Ratalaika Games, it comes to be expected that the game includes a full trophy list. And thanks to Bones of Halloween being a Cross-Buy release, you’ll get both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game with your purchase, and each one features a separate trophy list! The list includes 11 Gold trophies, and you’ll have to complete seven Challenges, obtain a score of 25,000 points in Arcade Mode, and obtain a score of 50,000 points in Classic Mode, Money Dripper Mode, and Explosive Mode. If you need some extra tips, you can always check out this Bones of Halloween Trophy Guide.

Bones of Halloween Review - 3

Bones of Halloween is a simple and to the point arena-style first-person shooter with a bunch of skeleton pumpkins to defeat in the five different gameplay modes on offer. It also includes a Challenges section where you can take on specific objectives that are more bite-sized in nature.
