A Frog’s Job from Ratalaika Games and 9Ratones is a platformer in which you must save some lost souls. Check our A Frog’s Job review!

A Frog’s Job from Ratalaika Games and 9Ratones is a platformer in which you must save some lost souls. The little frog finds itself in front of God, who mentions that it passed away too early, so he has a deal. If the frog manages to find the 40 lost frog souls, then the God will reincarnate the little frog! Once the little frog agrees to this, it will be granted the powers of the Reaper, which make it possible for it to stop time! Levels will be split over four different biomes.

A Frog’s Job Review - 1

The controls for this game are simple and to the point since you’ll control the little frog with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, jumping with the X button and stopping time with the Square button. When you stop time, the screen will turn black and white so that you know that the ability is currently in use – and, you know, anything that was previously moving will come to a halt. If you collect a slime bullet, you can shoot it with the Circle button to get rid of an enemy… or to be used as a moving platform! If you need to get a better view of the level, you can press the Triangle button to switch the camera view.

Along with the always classic super-sharp spikes that can defeat the little frog Reaper, there are also spinning buzzsaws and enemies to avoid, as well as switches to activate. The red ones will make a box fall down from a black hole in the sky. The yellow ones will make yellow blocks disappear… as long as you’re standing on them! This is why you’ll have to step on them, stop time, and then rush towards the yellow blocks to cross them. There are also blocks that only appear when you stop time! You will also run into platforms that fall as soon as you step on them, so be ready!

The game has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to work on, and since this is a Cross-Buy title, you can add two Platinums to your collection if you own a PlayStation 5. The list includes 11 Gold trophies, and the objectives are easy to complete. You get one for stopping time for the first time and another one for collecting a frog soul. As for the rest, they will pop when you obtain a slime bullet, spawn a block by stepping on a switch, defeat your first turtle, complete levels 5, 15, and 25, and reach the snow, desert, and swamp biomes.

A Frog’s Job Review - 3

It offers 40 levels to complete with a good difficulty curve that won’t feel overwhelming.
