In Broken Universe – Tower Defense from RedDeerGames and Jinthree Studio you must rush to space to save your missing girlfriend. You’ll play as Roco the raccoon who must save the day. The planet explodes into pieces, so there’s nothing left to do but rush right behind her to try and save her before it’s too late! This didn’t happen only to your planet but to every single planet. Because of this, you’ll need to search all of their remains as you follow Cona’s signal to try and pinpoint her location.

Broken Universe - Tower Defense Review - 1

Broken Universe – Tower Defense can be played with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con or by using the console’s touchscreen when playing in Portable or Tabletop Mode or if playing this one on a Nintendo Switch Lite. When using physical inputs, you’ll scroll around the screen with the left analog stick, zooming in and out as needed with the L and R buttons. Since resources are collected automatically, you can use them to build your defenses. To speed things up, the different actions you can perform will be mapped to one of the many buttons on the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con.

Once you pick a spot with the ZR button, select the right blueprint to spend your resources to build this or that structure. Sometimes building a tower that can attack enemies is all that is needed, but sometimes you’ll have to build a barrier or two to contain enemies to buy you some extra time. That extra time will be crucial since it can make a huge difference. Towers don’t have much health, and barriers usually won’t be able to attack, but they have high durability, so you can find the right mix for each level.

Along with building new structures, you’ll also be able to upgrade the ones you’ve already built in order to boost their stats. Each structure you build can be upgraded up to three times, so be sure to pay attention to the paths that your enemies will take so that you can counter their efforts by planning accordingly. You can also spend your resources to repair a structure so that it can recover any lost health. Some levels will also require that you repair all of the damaged defense systems in the level.

As you complete levels, you will gain experience points and level up, which will give you access to more blueprints so that you can build more structures. You must always check the new blueprints that you obtain so that you can register them for your loadout, or else you won’t be able to use them during subsequent stages. The more varied the structures in your loadout, the better your odds of survival! And if you ever find yourself short on space when playing a level, just pay attention to the walls that can be destroyed so that you can target them to open up more room.

Leveling up will also give you access to skills that you can equip. These will use up energy and will have a cooldown period to consider. You could, for example, equip Precision Cannon, which will launch a powerful cannonball that will deal 40 physical damage over a 5×5 block, or Recovery Beam, which will launch a healing beam that will make structures in a 5×5 block momentarily recover their shields by 200. And by spending coins and special resources. You can enhance skills and structures as you see fit. Boost the healing power of the Recovery Beam, or increase the durability or attack of a tower so that it can endure more damage or deal more damage to opponents.

The coins you collect can be used to purchase boosters to make your life a lot easier. You could activate a resource booster to increase the number of resources you’ll get when you begin the next stage or activate a drone booster to increase the initial drone level by 2. This will, in turn, increase the speed at which drones build a new structure as well as the speed at which they upgrade or repair them. You should also look into building more drones once you land in a level so that you can have some on standby to quickly take care of any orders you issue.

And once you unlock the lab, you can spend the tech points received when leveling up to research new specs. Boost the durability, defense, resource mining, shield, resource boost, and max drones for the landing pod that you place at the start of each level. You can also unlock additional skins for the landing pod to add additional boosts. And then there’s the main research tab where you can unlock spec boosts split into attack, defense, construction, and support sections. You can gain extra tech points by obtaining trophies by clearing every landing mission on a planet.
