Astronomical Club For Queers from RedDeerGames and Yookond is a colorful adventure game about how different people can come together to protect each other. The publisher and indie dev combo previously gave us bite-sized hand-drawn adventure League of Enthusiastic Losers on Nintendo’s console, and now they’re back with a game with an anthropomorphic cast of characters. You’re a transgender civet named Louie. After the flood ends up devastating your house and those of almost everyone else in town, you stay at the family home of your friend, a gay fox named Oliver. Oliver’s house was spared because it’s up on a hill.
This one also offers a short game to experience as you hang out with your friends – lesbian dog Kylie, asexual cat Darwin, and pansexual alligator Miles – learning more about Halley’s Comet, which is approaching Earth. As you can probably tell by now, the group is the titular Astronomical Club For Queers. It was created by Louie for all fellow nerds to join forces in their love of astronomy, as well as to provide a safe space for Louie and everyone else. For this short adventure game, you’ll control Louie with the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you interact with other characters with the A button. Some interactions will lead to you having to choose an answer, which you can do by pressing left or right on the left analog stick or the D-Pad and then pressing the A button.
Astronomical Club For Queers is a colorful adventure game about how different people can come together to protect each other. League of Enthusiastic Losers was a short one at less than an hour – 30 minutes if you rush through things – and Astronomical Club For Queers is even shorter than that since you can easily see everything it has to offer in 15 minutes at most. Astronomical Club For Queers is out on Nintendo Switch with a $9.99 asking price. It’s currently on sale for a couple of bucks, in case you want to grab it.
