Catgotchi: Virtual Pet from RedDeerGames allows you to raise and care for a feline pixel creature. It’s a retro-style nostalgic experience that will remind you of the old-school physical virtual pet toys, with the keychain-style Tamagotchi being the one to rule them all – hence this game’s name. The game pays homage to the pixel LCD screen look, with chunky pixels and a screen color with almost a Game Boy feel to it.
To take care of your digital pixel cat pet in Catgotchi on Nintendo Switch, you’ll have to keep in mind what it needs to be happy. Food is certainly part of the equation. When food is ingested, there’s a digestive progress that takes place in a pet’s body that… has an expected outcome. You’ll have to, therefore, clean up after your virtual pet. Most pets love to have the attention of their owners, and they want to play, right? And what if your virtual pet falls ill? Then you’ll need to nurture them and use the handy medical briefcase at the bottom of the screen to get some meds.
Because of this, at the top of the screen, you will find a handful of gauges you’ll need to keep your eye on. They are for hunger, energy, hygiene, and fun. As you can probably guess by now, the first one means it needs to be fed. Energy will let you know if there’s something wrong with your feline pet since a pet with low energy is never a good thing. Hygiene will dictate when you must take care of cleaning up after it. As for fun, it will let you know when it’s a good time for you to take a few minutes to play with your pet.
Catgotchi: Virtual Pet offers you a chance to care for digital feline pets on your Nintendo Switch. Play with them, feed them, clean up after them, and be ready to use some meds in case they fall ill, and you’ll be ready to go. Do things right and put in the time needed for this activity, and your pet will grow into an adult! This will open up the way to gaining access to more types of cats for you to add to your virtual pet collection as you repeat the cycle over and over. Catgotchi: Virtual Pet is out on Nintendo Switch at a $12.99 price. There’s also a free DLC known as the Colorful Set that allows you to use 50 new colors for your cat’s fur, backgrounds, and decorations.
