Faircroft’s Antiques: The Mountaineer’s Legacy from Ocean Media brings us a hidden object puzzle adventure on PS5. Who doesn’t love a good puzzle game with a good story? Faircroft’s Antiques: The Mountaineer’s Legacy has puzzles in spades and different types of them, along with a decent story to boot. Other than some of the timed stuff linked to some trophies – more on those in a bit – it offers a very relaxing experience on Sony’s console.

The story is set in a skiing resort located at Mont Cache, where Mia Faircroft has taken a job. Unfortunately, due to the death of a well-known resident, things haven’t been as good, so when Mia’s grandmother arrives in town with a companion in tow, it’s up to you to help restore the town to its former glory before it’s too late to fix it.

As you progress through the game’s chapters, you will play a variety of puzzles. There are different puzzle types to work on, from the classic hidden object experience to sliding puzzles, picto puzzles, and silhouettes, to name some examples. You will play all these varieties of puzzles across 20+ picturesque hand-drawn locations, which are absolutely beautiful and stunning to look at.

You’ll be spending around 6-8 hours experiencing everything that the game has to offer, depending on the difficulty you choose. I played on the default difficulty, but you can choose to lower the challenge a bit. This will change how fast the hint gauge refills so that you can get some extra hints in to point you in the right direction. The game is not that difficult to begin with, but having the option of using hints is always a welcomed element.

I personally really enjoyed the variety of puzzles with beautiful scenery as backdrops. The game reminds me a lot of the many games from Artifex Mundi, who have had a very productive output on Sony’s consoles with story-heavy adventure games with a dash of hidden object.

And now, let’s talk about the trophies! This one does not have a Platinum trophy, which will certainly rub trophy hunters the wrong way. What is available is a list with 7 Bronze trophies, 3 Silver trophies, and 4 Gold trophies. You’ll have to beat the game to get a handful of them, with the rest tied to beating each mini-game at least once, finding all trivia, finishing 10 sub-games without using hints, and the aforementioned timed trophies. These will require you to complete a scene within 90, 180, and 360 seconds, with the one for 90 seconds proving to be the trickier of the bunch.

Faircroft’s Antiques: The Mountaineer’s Legacy is a fun hidden object puzzle adventure that is easy on the eyes. The hand-drawn graphics are bright and vibrant and will allow you to more easily locate the many hidden objects in your future. I had no issues during my time with the game and didn’t run into any bugs or glitches. Faircroft’s Antiques: The Mountaineer’s Legacy is out on PlayStation 5 at a $14.99 price.
