In visual novel DoraKone from Ratalaika Games and Apple Cider an augmented reality game known as Dragon Connection has taken the world by storm. The game is called DraCo for short, and it’s one that allows gamers to collect and battle with hundreds of different dragons. This one was originally released back in 2018, so think the beloved Pokémon – specifically of the Pokémon Go variety – and you have a good idea of why everyone has a lot of fun with DraCo. For this adventure, you’ll be taking on the role of Dulce.
Dulce has spent weeks saving up to get a new phone that can run DraCo as fast as possible, so that she can dive in full right into the experience. As Dulce continues to build her collection of virtual dragons in DraCo, she’ll get to meet new friends during her summer vacation. This one is of the Yuri visual novel variation, which means that you will be playing as a girl who might end up finding a romantic connection with one of the other girls she’ll meet.
If you’re new to visual novels, they’re games that do the genre’s names justice, since you’ll be experiencing a story with a lot of dialogue and flavor text. In the case of DoraKone, there are more than 31,000 words that will tell its tale. Some visual novels feature voice acting, but that’s not the case for DoraKone, which was to be expected considering that voice acting is quite expensive!
DoraKone has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy waiting for you. The list includes 2 Bronze trophies, a single Silver trophy, and 11 Gold trophies. And since DoraKone is a Cross-Buy release, your purchase will give you access to both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 copies, and each one has its own Platinum for you to work on. All trophies are tied to getting one of the different endings that the game has to offer, with the last trophy before the Platinum popping when you get all 13 endings. If you need some extra help, you can check out this DoraKone Trophy Guide.
DoraKone offers a colorful visual novel in which you’ll get to meet a trio of girls that share the same passion for Dragon Connection. Will you find something more than friendship? Does Dulce have what it takes to become a champion at DraCo? DoraKone is available as a Cross-Buy title at a budget price of only $4.99, giving you access to both the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 5 at no extra cost.
This DoraKone review is based on a PlayStation 5 copy provided by Ratalaika Games.
