ANIMALITY from Tendokore is a skill-based autorunner in which you’ll have to avoid dragons and demons while trying to collect gems and tokens. Check our ANIMALITY review!

ANIMALITY from Tendokore is a skill-based autorunner in which you’ll have to avoid dragons and demons while trying to collect gems and tokens. You can play this one on your own or with your friends in local multiplayer co-op. The longer you play during each run, the higher the challenge. The plan is to get the highest score possible, as you aim to improve your performance during subsequent runs.

ANIMALITY Review - 2

As expected, the controls for ANIMALITY are simple and to the point. Since it’s an endless runner, all you’ll need to worry about is pressing the A button so that you can switch between running on the top layer of the floor and the bottom layer. Since your character can’t jump, you’ll have to switch between each layer to avoid the aforementioned dragons and demons so that you can get as far as possible before you end up making a mistake.

On top of the main autorunner experience, there are also two mini-games you can play. To enjoy these, you’ll need to spend the mini-game tokens that you collect as you play the main game. Spend one mini-game token to play the Elusive Duck mini-game – which you can see on the screen below. You’ll need to find three ducks among all of the colorful animals on the screen. Find all three, and you’ll be rewarded with 200 gold coins. The other mini-game is Animal Derby, in which your mini-game token will allow you to pick an animal out of nine options as your winner for the race. Make the right call, and you’ll be rewarded with 300 gold coins.

ANIMALITY Review - 3

Gold coins can be spent to unlock additional character sprites for you to play as. These additional characters are purely cosmetic and won’t change the gameplay at all, but at least it’s an extra objective you can aim for. If you’re the type of gamer who likes to 100% a game, you’ll need to take on many, many endless runs as well as make the most of the mini-game tokens that you collect so that you can hopefully earn some extra coins from the mini-games.

ANIMALITY offers a colorful endless runner in which you’ll have to avoid dragons and monsters as you try to reach as high a score as possible, either on your own or in local multiplayer co-op. You can unlock additional characters with the coins you earn – with more than 20 characters to unlock – so that you can switch from the default bear to a cat, a pig, a frog, and more. There’s also a pair of mini-games you can play with the tokens you obtain, which help to switch things around for a little bit before you dive back into the endless running. This is a game that could have benefitted from an online leaderboard so that you could compete against players from around the world. ANIMALITY is out on Nintendo Switch with a $4.99 asking price.
