Brain Show from Simplicity Games brings us a colorful quiz show-style experience on Nintendo Switch for 2 to 8 players. Choose categories, answer questions, and try to make it to the top as you get rid of opponents in challenges. There are more than 5,000 questions split into more than 40 categories. On top of that, there are more than 10 competitions with different rules.

Brain Show Review - 1

You’ll use the Joy-Con to select an answer with the A, B, X, and Y buttons – or pressing up, down, left, or right – as needed, so that you can then press the Z Loro ZR button – depending on which Joy-Con you’re currently using – to confirm your answer. Since up to 8 players can join, each one will need to select a male or female avatar, select a name by first picking a letter, and then choose one of the available names. Choose how your avatar will look, and you’ll be ready to get started.

Once at least two players have logged in locally, the energetic host will jump into the scene. Having a limited number of names to choose from for each letter is a thing because the host is fully voice-acted, which is why establishing a limit on the number of names to choose from is crucial. He’ll also read each question, talk between segments, and explain the mini-games that will also have an effect on who has a better chance of coming out on top.

Brain Show Review - 2

As expected, each answer someone gets right will earn them points. What categories will you be able to choose from? Some examples include history, famous people, symbols, animals, prizes, fairy tales, politics, music, culinary, nature, geography, game, and motorization. Answers in some types of mini-games will earn you more points than in others. If everyone gets a chance to answer each question, then points are lower. If you need to be fast to buzz in to be able to answer correctly, then each correct answer will net you more points in one go.

Other mini-games include vacuum, which will suck away points from each of the participants. Answer correctly, and you can even choose who will be affected by the vacuum! If you’re taking on the high-stakes mini-game, you’ll be betting some of your points to try and win big… or lose your bet in the process. Another example is the fifty-fifty round, during which you’ll only see two answers for each question. One wrong answer, and you’ll be done for the round! Take too long to answer, and you’ll also be eliminated.

And then, there’s the final round. For that last round, each player will have a health bar displayed behind them. This life bar is directly related to how many points you managed to earn up to that point. Get a good answer, and you’ll be able to hit an opponent. Get a bad answer, and you’ll get hit. Whoever is left standing at the end will be the Brain Show champion. If everyone answers correctly, then whoever answers the fastest will get to shoot another player. When a player gets a bad answer, then the host will get involved and shoot that player. At some points,

Brain Show is a colorful quiz show experience on Nintendo Switch for 2 to 8 players with more than 40 categories and over 5,000 different questions to answer. Each round will throw a different type of quiz experience, with some allowing all participants to answer at the same time, while others require you to buzz in as quickly as possible. The game offers two languages – Polish and English – and given some of the mistakes in the way questions and answers are presented, it’s easy to tell it was initially developed in Polish. Brain Show is out on Nintendo Switch with a $14.99 price tag.
