After spending a while on Apple Arcade and Nintendo Switch, Oceanhorn 2: Knights of The Lost Realm is now available on every platform under the sun, including the PlayStation 5! It’s now the time for PlayStation 5 owners to get a chance to take on this wonderful 3D adventure that is a must-play on Sony’s console. I can tell you I had a fabulous time playing this incredible game, spending dozens of hours on it. It is much bigger and much longer than the original Oceanhorn – Monster of Uncharted Seas, with a bigger world to explore and a ton of things to do. It’s definitely one to consider for 2023 GOTY on PlayStation 5!

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of The Lost Realm from Cornfox & Bros and FDG Entertainment is a really fantastic game that has been inspired by the beloved The Legend of Zelda series. While the prequel was inspired by old-school games like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, this new title jumps into the third-person 3D entries such as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It has evolved from the first into a pretty amazing big open world game that is full of stuff to do – the game has definitely surpassed my own expectations! You play as a young knight who grew up on a small island. His peaceful and tranquil life is interrupted by a quest to save a princess that is being chased by the dark forces, and the two team up to put a stop to all of this. I’m not going to spoil things, so all I can say is that this adventure will not be disappointed.
Let’s discuss the dungeons since that’s what fans of classic The Legend of Zelda games love. The first one is only a small taste of what you can expect for future dungeons in your journey. Dungeons are of different sizes, and they offer the types of puzzles that you would expect from a game like this one. And alongside the dungeons, there are also small caves which often have a treasure chest inside that will reward you for your efforts. There are bloodstones to find, which are located all over Arcadia. Some might be in plain sight, while others can be locked behind puzzles. Some are going to be very well hidden, forcing you to search every nook and cranny.

Unlike in the first game, which had a boss at the end of every dungeon, for Oceanhorrn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm, there will be fewer bosses for you to go toe to toe against. The good news is that the bosses that you will battle offer very fun and satisfying fights that feel very rewarding once you learn their movement and attack patterns so that you can find the right time to deal considerable damage while keeping the hero alive.
Let’s discuss just how big the scope of the game is, just to try and give you some insight on what you can expect once you can begin traveling outside the confines of your tiny tranquil village. You will be able to go on train rides to other cities, fly hovercrafts, and travel the seas by boat. Later on, you’ll find more ways to travel through this colorful world. The developers have really poured their heart and soul into making Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm into the game that it is today. I am hoping for more of the same with a potential sequel!

The game really packs a punch in terms of content. After 20+ hours, I’m still missing some collectibles as I make my way toward adding a new Platinum trophy to my collection – more on trophies in a bit. One of the biggest things Oceanhorn 2: Knights of The Lost Realm has to offer you is the Tarock card game. You can challenge anybody you come across to a game of Tarock, and if you beat them, you get to pick a card from their collection. There are 50 Tarock cards to collect, with some of them being quite rare! If you manage to collect 10 of the same card, you unlock abilities for said card, which will help you beat some of the more challenging opponents you’ll run into which are wearing purple hats.
And now, let’s talk about the trophies in this game! The list is split into 18 Bronze trophies, 11 Silver trophies, and 5 Gold trophies. There are trophies for exploring 100% of each area that you visit. You’ll also have to collect all power shards, gear, and bloodstones. Yes, there are trophies for defeating the bosses of the game and for saving the day. The rest of the trophies will pop as you complete a variety of objectives, but I’ll let you discover them on your own! Do you have what it takes to get a new Platinum trophy for your collection?

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of The Lost Realm is an excellent adventure that goes above and beyond what Oceanhorn – – Monster of Uncharted Seas did. There’s a ton of content to enjoy, with dozens of hours worth of gaming in your future as you try to 100% all areas, locate all collectibles, and beat all potential opponents at the Tarock card game. Oceanhorn 2: Knights of The Lost Realm is out now on PlayStation 5 with a $29.99 price tag.
