Competitive first-person platformer Hirilun from Ratalaika Games and Gone Mad Studios will test your skills on PlayStation 5. Check out our Hirilun review!

Competitive first-person platformer Hirilun from Ratalaika Games and Gone Mad Studios will test your skills on PlayStation 5. Your journey will take you on a race against the clock as you try to hit all checkpoints on a level as you aim at reaching the final one within a specific time limit. As you run through each level, you’ll have to grab the golden rings you find along the way to pause the timer for a second.

Hirilun Review - 1

Before you begin, the game will ask you if you want to play through the tutorial, which you should certainly agree to so that you can learn the basics. This one is played from a first-person perspective, so you’ll control your character with the left analog stick as you look around with the right one. You’ll jump with the X button and crouch with the Circle button. You can dash in the direction you’re looking in by pressing the R1 button.

You can also sprint by pressing and holding down the R2 button, which will allow you to increase your speed so that you can jump over longer gaps. While jumping, you can press and hold down the L2 button to glide, which will slow down your fall. To balance things out, the game will show you how much you can use the dash, sprint, and glide abilities based on the red, green, and blue bars on the right side of the screen.

Hirilun Review - 2

The game has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy, and since it’s a Cross-Buy title, your purchase will allow you to download both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game at no extra cost. Each version will have its own separate trophy list for you to work on. Said lists will have 11 Silver trophies and 8 Gold trophies for you to work on. You’ll have to get a three-star rating on each of the levels, getting all 18 stars and completing each level without using any of your skills. Oh, and you’ll also have to collect all rings in the Factory, Plaza, and Skyscrapers levels in a single run. And remain up in the air for 25 seconds in the Shafts. And take all elevators in the Skyscrapers level in a single run. And complete the Conveyors level without touching the ground. Simple, right?

Hirilun Review - 3

Hirilun is a fun first-person platformer in which you’ll always be racing against the clock as you try to get the best time possible for each level. As you run, dash, sprint, and hover your way through each area, you’ll need to keep an eye out for the golden rings that you can grab to stop the clock one second at a time. Hirilun is available as a Cross-Buy title, so your $9.99 purchase will allow you to download both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game at no extra cost.
