GENIE Reprise from eastasiasoft and Tonguç Bodur is a new first-person adventure set in a fantasy world. Check out our GENIE Reprise review!

GENIE Reprise from eastasiasoft and Tonguç Bodur is a new first-person adventure set in a fantasy world. I’ve previously gotten a chance to review other games from this publisher and indie dev combo, such as Cions of Vega on PlayStation 5. For this one, you’ll be taking on the role of Lula, who must collect the many crystal shards that are scattered through the 15 chapters that the game has to offer, which are set over different eras.

GENIE Reprise Review - 1

As has been the case for the other first-person adventures from this pair, you’ll control Lula with the left analog stick as you use the right one to look around as you move the camera. The good news is that this time around, your character won’t be as slow as molasses. The bad news is that other than a few times when you need to press the X button to interact, this is as walking sim as it can get on PlayStation 5.

Trophy-wise, this one has a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to work on adding to your collection. The list has 2 Bronze trophies, 4 Silver trophies, and 10 Gold trophies. Each of the trophies is tied to the 15 story chapters, with trophies popping as you start each one. Complete the game to make the last Gold trophy pop, and the Platinum is yours! It’s a simple trophy run, but if you want extra help, you can check out this GENIE Reprise Trophy Guide.

GENIE Reprise Review - 3

GENIE Reprise will have you taking on the role of Lula. She’s on a journey to learn more about the Genie in the game’s title, and she will serve as the game’s narrator. The gameplay loop is simple and to the point since you’ll have to collect all crystal shards, get on a platform, look into the blinding light, hear what Lula has to say, move on to the next platform, and then eventually be sent to the next chapter. There’s not much else to do in this one, making it a very linear walking sim experience. GENIE Reprise is out on PlayStation 5 with a $6.99 asking price.
