PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance from Outright Games and Petoons Studio is ready to go on Nintendo Switch. After an unfortunate accident at PJ Power Q sends gems and technology flying all over the place, Catboy, Owlette, and Gekko decide to team up with An Yu, Newton Star, Ice Cub, Lilyfay, and Bastet in order to form the titular Mighty Alliance. By using the Explorider, you’ll have to act fast as you explore the City, Mystery Mountain, and Ice World because antagonists Romeo, Luna Girl, and Night Ninja are also trying to get their hands on these valuable items!

PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance Review - 1

The game will begin with a fully voice-acted cutscene that will set things up. Once that is over, you’ll get to explore the first level in PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance: the City! Since many pieces were lost during the accident shown in the aforementioned sequence, you’ll need to use the help of PJ Robot to locate all gems and gears. For each level that you play, you’ll be controlling a pair of members for the Mighty Alliance and will need to use their special abilities to succeed.

When selecting a level, you’ll notice that the Mighty Alliance has split into pairs. For example, on the first level, you’ll be playing as Bastet and Owlcat. Once you’re ready to go, you’ll get to control your character with the left analog stick or the D-Pad, jumping and double jumping with the A or Buttons as needed. The Y or X buttons can be pressed to unleash your character’s attack. Special abilities will be used at specific spots in a level, and you’ll need to decide which ability can help you get the job done.

Some characters can fly, so you’ll be controlling them with the left analog stick or the D-Pad and boost through the air by pressing the A or B buttons to dash faster. Gecko won’t be able to double jump, but he can grab onto walls to climb through some spots as you collect crystals. Levels with Newton Star and Ice Cub will play more like a 2.5D autorunner since each character will automatically move forward as you jump and attack.

If you run into a stage where the camera perspective changes, you’ll be changing between lanes by pressing left and right. You will also be able to boost by pressing the A button as long as you’ve collected enough crystals for energy. You can also find boost rings that will allow you to increase your speed. These and the regular levels will have some collectibles for you to find.

If you want to 100% the game, for each stage that you explore, you’ll need to work on finding all secret areas, collecting all crystals, and finding the different hero masks and gift boxes. You won’t know what’s inside of each gift box until you complete the level in which you collected it. You don’t need to do this in a single run since any crystals that you missed the first time around will be colored, while the ones you already grabbed will be translucent.

When you complete all levels in an area, you’ll need to take on one more level that will act as a boss stage of sorts. Complete the level, and you’ll get another story cutscene before you fight against the boss. For this, you’ll need to use each character’s special ability by way of some button-mashing sequences so that you can gain the upper hand and beat your opponent. Do this, and you’ll recover one of the lost reactors.

PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance Review - 4

PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance is an all-ages adventure on Nintendo’s console. After a terrible accident, our heroes must work together to recover all the crystals, gears, and reactors that were sent flying all over the place. You must use each hero’s skills to overcome the obstacles you’ll run into so that you can recover all items before the villains get a hold of them. Do know that this game is aimed at the younger gaming demographic that would enjoy a game based on the PJ Masks series. PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance is out on Nintendo Switch with a $39.99 price tag.
