Primal Survivors from AFIL Games and Old School Vibes is a simple roguelite twin-stick horde shooter on PlayStation 5. It offers an experience of the prehistoric type. You’ll be working on unlocking over 20 permanent upgrades so that you can slowly but surely start to make some progress as you start to become more powerful in order to extend your run. At first, you won’t have many weapons to choose from, but at least you’ll have a faster-paced bone to chuck at enemies or a larger but slower boulder that packs more of a punch.

Given the game’s premise and how other games handle things, you can have a good idea of what to expect from Primal Survivors. You’ll control the character of your choice with the left analog stick as you aim with the right one. You can either attack at a steady pace on your own or go into the options and make it so that your character attacks automatically. There are many enemies of all shapes and sizes coming for you at all times, so you’ll need to be in constant motion to stay alive for as long as possible.
As you defeat enemies and bosses, you’ll get to collect the experience points they drop. Once you collect enough, your character will get to level up. When this happens, your character will be fully healed and will get to choose from one of the skills from the available cards. The more enemies you defeat, the more you’ll level up and the more skills you’ll be able to add for that particular run. There are 3 large bosses to take on, so you’ll need to pay attention to their movement and attack patterns if you want to survive through the onslaught.

This is a Cross-Buy title, which means that if you own a PlayStation 5 console, you’ll be able to download the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game at no extra cost, and each version will have its own trophy list for you to work on. Said lists will be split into 2 Bronze trophies, 11 Silver trophies, and 7 Gold trophies. The objectives to complete are simple and to the point, since you’ll have to defeat your first enemy, defeat 15, 30, and 50 snakes, survive for 2, 5, and 9 minutes in the same run, reach levels 5, 10, and 15, defeat 15, 30, and 50 living bushes in the same run, defeat 15, 30, and 50 bees in the same run, defeat a wild thorn, defeat the King Wasp boss, die 10 times, and buy your upgrade.

Primal Survivors is a simple twin-stick horde shooter on PlayStation 5. As you choose from the available characters and weapons, you’ll move all over the area to attack enemies as you try to stay alive for as long as possible. You’ll be able to unlock permanent upgrades to increase your odds of survival as you progress a bit further and further with each subsequent run. Primal Survivors is available as a Cross-Buy title, so your $4.99 purchase will allow you to download both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions at no extra cost.
