Post-apocalyptic Old man from AlignmentSharp is a simple 2D run ‘n’ gun in which you must stop the invasion of old men before it’s too late. It pays homage to the beloved Mega Man series. The game takes place in the year 2xxx A.D. after the number of old men suddenly increases for no apparent reason. They start attacking the jails and, in a single month, manage to gain control of roughly half the jails in the world. They continued to wreak havoc until a girl decided that enough was enough. The graphic for the old men will be familiar to those of you who have played any of the Cape’s Escape Game releases.

The controls for this one are easy to understand. With the game taking place over a 2D plane, you’ll control the girl with the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you aim around you and shoot with the A button. You’ll jump with the R button and perform a somersault by pressing the L button so that you can reach higher platforms. As you defeat bosses, you’ll get to collect special weapons. You can use these with the B button as long as you have enough energy. Pressing the ZL and ZR buttons will allow you to switch between special weapons.

You’ll be taking on levels set out all over Japan, with the options being Oita, Hiroshima, Kagawa, Osaka, Nagano, Fukushima, Akitaa, and Hokkaido. As you defeat the many old men on your path, you’ll collect items that can heal your wounds, as well as some money. You can use this money to purchase extra lives, an increase in your overall health, or a boost to your energy. Energy is what is used to power your special weapons.

Post-apocalyptic Old man Review - 3

Post-apocalyptic Old man is a simple 2D run ‘n’ gun in which you must stop the invasion of old men before it’s too late. The graphic for the old men will be familiar to those of you who have played any of the Cape’s Escape Game releases. It’s a game that pays homage to the beloved Mega Man series by having you obtain special weapons after defeating each boss, which you can then use as you take on the remaining stages. This one, unfortunately, ends up feeling a bit repetitive, and the controls are not as precise as you need them to be. Post-apocalyptic Old man is available on Nintendo Switch with a $4.80 price tag.
