Dollhouse: Behind The Broken Mirror from SOEDESCO, Grindstone, and Indigo Studios is a first-person psychological horror experience on PS5. It acts as a prequel to Dollhouse, a game that Soedesco released on PlayStation 4 and that Tracey reviewed back in 2019. You’ll be taking on the role of Eliza de Moor, a once-celebrated singer who now finds herself trapped in the labyrinth of her own forgotten memories. It’s up to you to do whatever it takes to piece together the mysteries from the past that are currently making your life a living nightmare.

You see, you had a big issue during a performance that led to you straight up collapsing on stage. This also led to a bout of amnesia, which is never a good thing. In order for you to recover your memories and have a chance of taking several steps that can hopefully lead back to as much of a full recovery as possible, you go to one Doctor Stern, who seems to have a potential way for you to eventually feel better. By using experimental medication, you’ll be going on a journey split between real life and whatever it is that is going on in the other reality that you find yourself in. This will lead you to your childhood home in Ravenhill, the Dollhouse Mansion, where horror is always right around the corner.

 

With the game being played from a first-person perspective, you’ll be taking control of Eliza by using the left analog stick as you use the right analog stick to look around and aim as needed. You can spring by pressing in on the left analog stick, but do know that this will increase how much noise you make while moving! Crouch by pressing in on the right analog, allowing you to get through some tight spots. You’ll soon find an old Colt 45 gun while exploring Ravenhill and a box of ammo. Ammo, as expected, will be a bit limited for this journey, so you should make every single shot count! You’ll be able to aim by pressing the L2 button and will shoot by pressing the R2 button.

Any items that you collect will be added to your inventory. From your inventory, you’ll be able to combine black gunpowder and reactive liquid to craft bullets so that you can defend yourself against the weird creatures that you’ll run into. You’ll also be able to use the flask with purple liquid that will calm and heal you for a little bit. Special items will also be added to your inventory, which are needed in order for you to be able to press onward.

This release features a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to try to add to your collection. The list is split into 6 Bronze trophies, 5 Silver trophies, and 8 Gold trophies for you to work on. What will you need to do during this Platinum trophy run? You’ll get a freebie once you begin to play the game and wake up inside of the craziness. After that, there are trophies for reaching specific areas in the game and completing them. Since many of the trophies are of the secret variety, I won’t be spoiling them here.
