Pulmo from Sometimes You, Emil Ismaylov, and Denis Petrov is a minimalist puzzle experience on PlayStation 5. You’ll be exploring human behavior in a society, as you aim to change the environment around you to influence the behavior of others. The crowd might aid you or hinder your progress, but at least it will always react to your actions. You’re a lone wanderer on this journey that you’ll be able to take on at your own pace, with no timers rushing you. As you make your way through the 10 levels, you’ll be presented with a series of different tests that you will need to pass in order to reach the final area.
No matter how large the crowd around you may be, you will be left alone in the last moment. No matter how rich you may be, you will be a beggar in the end. No matter how dazzling your luck may seem, its wings will turn to dust. No matter how much joy you sow on your way, the harvest will be bitter.
This release is the sequel to Alveole, which I had a chance to review on PlayStation 4 back in 2021. It presents an experience that feels familiar yet is still different. The game is presented in black and white, and its story directly follows Alveole’s. After you’ve managed to escape from the seemingly endless journey on the human-sized hamster wheel, you’ll be taking control of your character with the left analog stick as you interact with objects and other characters by pressing the X button.
The game features a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy waiting for you. The list is split into 2 Bronze trophies, 10 Silver trophies, and 8 Gold trophies for you to work on. What will you need to do for that shiny Platinum trophy? A good part of the trophies will pop as you complete each of the ten levels that the game has to offer.
