CyberBlocker Complete Edition from eastasiasoft and KT Software brings us a brick-breaking puzzler with a dash of shoot ’em up. Your task is simple and to the point: control two spaceships at once as you break blocks while avoiding the incoming enemy fire, all while you boost up your score and collect power-ups to save the day. Don’t let the orb fall through the bottom of the screen. Shoot enemies before they overwhelm you. And play either the Standard Mode or the Challenge Mode, which, as the name suggests, bumps up the overall difficulty and challenge. All you need to do to clear a stage is to get rid of all of the blocks on the screen as quickly and efficiently as possible… except for the levels in which you also need to destroy the medium-sized aircraft enemy that pops up.

Before you begin, you’ll be able to choose between the Type-A and Type-B difficulty settings. The Type-A difficulty setting offers the standard experience, with a good challenge level that won’t feel overwhelming. Enemies will attack at a steady pace, and the power-ups will act a bit differently – sure, they will help you out, but they’re much more powerful when playing in Type-B. On that note, the Type-B difficulty setting is the easier one, with power-ups that considerably increase the size of your spaceships, attacks that deal more damage or cover a wider area, and more.

 

Given the game’s premise, the controls for this one are going to be simple and to the point. You’ll be controlling both of the spaceships – a.k.a. the paddles – by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you move them around the playing area. The upper paddle can be moved up, down, left, and right, while the lower paddle will only be moving left and right. When both paddles come into contact at the bottom of the screen, they will become “glued together,” thus expanding the area they cover so that you can have a better chance of keeping the ball in play.

You can press the A button to fire away at enemies and blocks. If the ball is currently on the lower paddle, then pressing the A button will send it into play. You can bump up the speed of the paddles by pressing and holding down the B button, which will be crucial when you need to quickly move them into place to catch the ball on time before it’s lost to the bottom of the screen. Pressing the R button will activate the power-up currently shown in the power-up section on the right side of the screen.

Speaking of which, power-up capsules will pop up every now and then as you destroy blocks and enemies. As expected, you’ll need to collect a power-up capsule to have a power-up show up on the right side of the screen. Some examples of power-ups include a speed down that will reduce the current speed of the ball, an expand that will increase the lateral size of the lower paddle, a disruption ability that will instantly split the ball in different directions, or a 3Way or laser that will change the type of weapon you can use to attack enemies and bricks.
