HYPERWIRED from Selecta Play and Sidral Games is a 2D roguelike top-down twin-stick action shooter in which your spaceship has a plug hanging from it. Why is that? As you take on the procedurally generated levels that the game will throw at you, you’ll have to plug into spacesockets to recharge your energy, as well as to aid your allies and progress further and further. Do be careful, because once you’re plugged in, you will only be able to move within your cable’s range!

For this one, there are going to be 12 ships that you’ll eventually get to choose from once you’ve managed to unlock all of them, with each one having different stat values to consider for energy, speed, HP, ammo, laser, and cable. But before all that, your only option will be the N2-FA0 spaceship. At least it will start every level with a full stock of bombs!
With this one being of the twin-stick variety, once you jump into action, you’ll be piloting your ship by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad as you aim all around you by using the right analog stick. Shoot at enemies by pressing the R button. Charge up a deadlu laser by pressing and holding down the ZR button. Launch a powerful bomb with the L button. Oh, and you can totally slow down time with the ZL button.

After completing a level, you’ll get to pick from a series of upgrades to aid you during that run. You could pick a speed boost, get yourself bigger and deadlier shots, get one that will restore your ammo as you hit enemies, boost your laser, and even get full ammo, full HP, a full laser charge, and two shields to protect you from attacks.
If you find yourself a battery, be sure to grab it and bring it back to the spacesockets. Each spacesocket can have up to three batteries, and they will modify your shots while you’re plugged into that spacesocket. Another good option is to collect the chips that your enemies drop when they’re defeated. Chips will be added to your cable, so the longer your cable, the more chips you’ll be able to carry! Chips provide temporary upgrades, boosting your fire rate, increasing the power of your laser, making your bullets deal more damage, adding homing bullets, and even activating an auto-repair.

If you spot one of your allies floating around aimlessly in one of the levels, then you should always try to help them recover, so that they can aid you in fighting against your opponents. Just pay attention to the symbol – or symbols – that they’re displaying, since this will let you know what spacesocket you need to plug them into so that they can get back into action.

Since you might not always be able to plug into a socket in time to recharge, you should always consider collecting some Portable Emergency Throwable Adapters (P.E.T.As). You can launch one by pressing in on the left and right analog sticks at the same time and instantly plug in to recharge your energy before your enemies destroy you. HYPERWIRED launches tomorrow on Nintendo Switch with a $7.99 price tag.
