Hyperdrive Inn from Dolores Entertainment and Horsefly Games is a bizarre and quirky adventure crafted from scanned fabric samples. In the near future, a power source known as the Hyperdrive has been created by Mr. Hilbert. Along with being able to generate a massive and endless flow of energy, the Hyperdrive can also bend the fabric of time and space with great ease. This has been used for the construction of an infinite space. This ensues a vicious bidding war, with DBF Holding emerging victorious. The first order of business is using the Hyperdrive to prototype a hotel and see how things go. Plot twist: the Hyperdrive Inn ends up becoming the center of the universe!

This is why it’s weird when the Hyperdrive Inn is placed under lockdown, with no one being able to enter or leave. You’ll be placed in the role of Aino Penrose, a young woman who finds herself returning to the titular Hyperdrive Inn to take care of some unfinished family business. You have to talk to your dad, who you haven’t seen in forever. Oh, and he just happens to be Mr. Hilbert, the one responsible for the Hyperdrive! It’s now up to you to find your father and learn what is really going on. He’s the only one who can fix whatever it is that is affecting the hotel.

 

After the intro cutscene is over, you’ll be taking control of Aino by using the left analog stick or the D-Pad. Once you enter the Hyperdrive Inn, you’ll be greeted by the helpful Tutorial Bot, who will help you with the game’s tutorial. You can press the X button to interact with objects, points of interest, or other characters. Any useful items that you find will be added to your inventory, which you can review by pressing the Square button.

As not to spoil things too much, allow me to discuss the first series of events that you’ll need to sort out to be able to progress further. Since you have a reservation at the Hyperdrive Inn for the manager’s office, you’ll need to request the key at the front desk. Unfortunately, you don’t have your ID with you, and the robot at the front desk requires it. Guess you’ll need to find another way of getting the key! There’s a family living in one of the bathrooms, trying to hide from having to pay what they owe. If you rat them out to the owners, you’ll be able to see what it is that they’re hiding behind one of the toilets! But even after this, the item they were hiding is too high for you to reach.

The good news? There’s a plunger in the bathroom next door! Once you have it, use the plunger to grab the plastic bag full of papers that was lodged behind one of the toilets. The bag contains many complaint forms, which have been removed from the establishment by the owners. What if you brought them to the woman who is screaming about her reservation not being honored? That can probably cause enough of a distraction for you to go and grab the key to the manager’s office!

Trophy-wise, this one features a full trophy list with a Platinum trophy for you to try to add to your collection. It has a very long list that is split into 59 Bronze trophies, 1 Silver trophy, and 1 Gold trophy for you to work on. What will you need to do in order to get that shiny Platinum trophy? While there are plenty of objectives for you to take on, talking about them would bring us into spoiler territory, so I’ll just leave it at that.

You must step into the role of Aino, Mr. Hilbert’s daughter, as you search for your estranged father at the titular location. Will you manage to uncover the truth and find your father, who is the only person who can fix whatever it is that is going wrong at the hotel? Hyperdrive Inn launches on July 31 on PlayStation 5.
